Whoa.... yank back on the reigns there, fellas. I don't mean men are the root of all evil. Women are responsible for their own actions. Period. But my gripe is with deadbeat dads, drunkard dads, and anyone else who puts himself before the needs of his wife & child(ren), regardless of where those needs fall on Maslow's heirarchy. I know crack-moms & moms who sleep around are just as prevalent & just as detrimental to our society, but I think it's men who are responsible ultimately.

"Ol' Gin Blossom" and any other politician, regardless whether they ride a donkey or elephant, who do what they can to keep people on welfare, who lobby want to give drug addicts excuses, who want to let child molesters out of prison, who cheat on their wives & then tell the public it was no big deal... who steal from us to pad their nest egg... damn them. I won't change my mind on that.

LT, I don't get it... I think we should treat women like queens, as more precious than ourselves...

Now predator, you can clearly see that the next sentence to the one you quoted said that I don't believe she should get any leeway for this crime. The point I was making is that very few people are "naturally" screwed-up, most are the way they are because of what happened to them when they were young. From whoever, not just the parents, as I clearly said in my post.

Vasectomies for everyone! That's the only answer. I never had any children. There's nothing wrong with children; I just thought about it for 5 minutes or so and decided parenthood wasn't for me.

Why was this woman allowed to have five children? We can't ride a dirtbike in a National Forest, but people can have all the babies they want. They don't even have to be able to afford them! You gotta take a test before you can drive a car, but any freak can have a child.

As far as men being responsible for everything. . .that's unadulterated CRAP. It's about the parents. Parenthood is a 50-50 deal, and if you're not committed to it 100%, you have no business having children.

Amen brother. All this garbage makes my stomach turn. I go home every day and hug my little girl, praying that I can keep her from the predators of society. I can only hope that when we are apart, some type of guardian angel, (or whatever you can call it) protects her. There's nothing like the smile of a child, so innocent and unaware. All they want is to be loved and protected and they didn't ask to be here and we owe it to them. My heart and soul burn for little Danielle van Dam and for every other child that perishes from this earth under these circumstances.

I didn't hear anyone say that it was Andrea & hubbies parent's fault... I What I'm talking about is your responsibility from birth to age 18. Your responsibility is to teach your son how to be a man, and your daughter how to be a lady. He learns how to be a husband, she learns what kind of husband to look for.

Beyond that, there's nothing you can do. So my solution was to be better fathers. Love them more. Hug them more. Discipline them more. Give them more. And don't stand for any of that other crap. It's no good to say "to each his own" anymore. If your friend is raising a son who could potentially be your daughter's husband... and you see him flirting with the hotties at the bar... turning the other cheek is like telling him "Hey, it's O.K."

You made some good points -- that we'd be better of with more good fathers in society. I just thought it funny that in a thread where you totally bashed men, underlined, that at the end you made sure and told the women you weren't insulting them.

As to the crux -- men, women, whatever . . . that wasn't the point of this thread, I didn't think.

Gotcha, LT. Yeah, I was being PC & didn't make a lot of sense. We italians can't help it- we get all fired up & forget to think. Maybe that's why we're not world leaders, huh?;)

I have two kids of my own and I don`t see how anybody in their right mind could bring themselves to harm or murder a child. I mean if anyone was to something to my kids or even nieces and nephews that person or persons better hope the authorities get them before I do. Sad thing is I`d be the one going to jail for taking out the trash.

i hate it when people say that what happend in someone's childhood could have something to do with how they turn out. my father has told me stories about my grandfather literally beating him and my uncle and both of them turned out good (and my dad has never laid a hand on me). one of my teachers even told me how she lived with her aunt and she beat her up everyday of her childhood and now she is the best and nicest teacher i've ever had and she's now working to become a physician's assistant. my point is, this is a weak excuse for getting out of responsibilities and consequences.

It's rather sad to think that you need a license to drive a car, own a pistol, build a house, just about anything and everything other than having kids. I truly believe there needs to be some regulation on who can reproduce and who cannot. Don't get me wrong, I am NOT for big government!! I am a huge supporter of the right to bear arms, and most every other civil liberty, but in my opinion, people with backgrounds such as their's should be castrated and spayed. Has anyone noticed that the most unproductive leaches on society seem to be the biggest producers of children? Some are like a child factory! IF YOU CAN'T FEED AND TAKE CARE OF EM', DON"T MAKE EM'!!!! Good old-fashioned linchin' is the appropriate consequence in this case.

About the Yates children :whiner: . It just tears me up that in every picture they show, all those little ones are smiling, every one. I have two little boys and I just can't take it thinking about all those little people :whiner: :whiner: . When the story comes up on TV I can't bear to watch it. How can that father defend his wife? I don't understand that. My brain cannot comprehend how a mother can kill:whiner: her children in such a methodical way, in any way. To think what she did, and how she did it haunts me. I am very, VERY Sad. :(

No offense, but I'm done with this thread. My stomach is in a knot and I'm getting angrier by the minute and at the same time, becoming more depressed. I'm going home early today and picking up my little girl from daycare just to see her smile. It's amazing what her smile can do, nothing else matters.

Let me tell you something. I can't stand to see these tragedys every single day. I look at things a lot differently now that I have my own daugher, 2 years old.

What's wrong with this situation and our society in general is this:

Every decision you make has consequences. You have to accept the consequences for EVERY decision you make. Period!! None of this insanity crap or anything else matters.

If you run up your credit card bills, you have to suffer the consequences. If you choose to do drugs and you get fired from your job, you suffer the consequences of a decision that you made. If you kill someone, you should suffer the consequences.

People are always looking for someone else or something else to blame for something that they did. They should execute her and make sure the everyone in the public knows about it. You kill your kid...these are the consequences...it's not open for debate!

If my daughter can grow up and understand that every decision she makes will have some type of consequences and that she will have to accept responsiblity for ALL of her decisions, then I will have succeeded as a father. AND, if all that happens, I'm sure that my daughter will be well adjusted and make smart choices.

I have two beautiful kids and I worry about their safety everyday, wish there was a way to be more pro-active in preventing these crimes - As to getting off on a technicality, insanity plea etc, there is no way these people should be released from their responsibility, do the crime, do the time. Life without parole, should mean life without parole - What justice can you exact if your kids are killed, nothing that is done after the fact changes what happened.

Wish there was a better way to protect our children, the new order in our lives is to keep the safe and close to home, never let them out without supervision, have 24 hour monitored security, most importantly, ensure that you use/set your security system. Even then, there is no guarantee :ugg:

Julius Pleaser, not having children may save us this agony, still, the real joy of having children is what makes it all worthwhile, sorta makes the meaning of life more clearer to me anyway ! :)

Children are wonderful, and I probably would have had some if I had married a woman who wasn't a chronic liar/OCB/overly anxious/violent.

My brother (who is my polar opposite) is an exemplary father, and I love my nieces like I would my own children. They think I'm a terrific uncle and I'm satisfied with that. :cool:
