Don't beat me up here. ;)
Pickin' & grinnin' at the "bombfire" with Jaybird was great fun. I'm thinking that acoustic is more appropriate for a "camp fire sing-a -long" than trying to hookup all the electric stuff, it just kind of lost something when we moved to the tent. We were able to pull several songs out of the hat before we set up the other gear then it seemed to fall apart. I'd like to see a list of "good ole songs" that people would enjoy singing along with and post them here. I don't mind working up a few but we are all going to have to scrunch up together in order to hear the acoustic guitars next year.
What do ya say Mr Bird?

I had my Alvarez Yairi in the truck, but always ended up going to bed too early! :( Haven't played since... god I forgot! But, used to play somewhere (wanted or not) every weekend. Eagles, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Marshall Tucker (am I showin' my age?), Aces, Beatles, Hank Jr., (John Denver!), etc., always seemed to work well. I'm sorry I never made to the tent, I guess I need to pace myself better! Gettin' old... :|

I agree with you, Jeff. Unless we have time to work up a real set, the acoustic thing would probably work best. Since you are in a working band you may want to list a few songs from time to time that any of us other players can work out or bone up on. Maybe next years jam session will flow much more smoothly if we are all ready with a list.

America - A horse with no name
Buffalo Springfield - For what its worth
Cat Stevens - Cats in the cradle
Dr. Hook - Cover of a rolling stone
Eagles - Tequila Sunrise
Frank Zappa - Joes garage
John Fogerty - Blueboy or Bring it down to jelly roll
Van Morrison - Domino or Wild night
Trooper - We're here for a good time
Gordon Lightfoot - Sundown
James Taylor - Mexico
Lobo - Me and you and dog named boo
Los Lobos - Mustang Sally
Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Jambalaya
Ozark Mountain Daredevils - If you wanna get to heaven
Thin Lizzy - Cowboy song

Just throwing out some ideas that seem like they'd work well for acoustic sets. Tried to pick some that most people would either already know or have at least heard a thousand times. I have MP3's of all these and 3 or 4 thousand more that I could e-mail so you all could practice individually since it'd be hard for you to get together.

Not trying to poke my nose in - just throwing out some ideas.

The Hollies - Long cool woman
CSN "AND" Y - Ohio
CCR - Lookin out my back door

Anybody got a 12 string?

Jaybird pulled off a pretty mean Pearl Jam cover. More of that would be cool. Maybe some John Mayer or some Nirvana unplugged.

He's done Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage", too. Weird, but in a cool sort of way...

I heard that too. I'd like to hear him cover In Between Days by the Cure.

Before Depeche Mode released the Violator CD, they released an EP with 10 different versions of Personal Jesus. I listened to it so much that I now change the station any time it comes on.

I thought Harry Chapin wrote/recorder "Cat's in the cradle"

I also vote for some Van Morrison - Blue Money

Yup, thats correct. Thats the biggest thing I hate about downloading music, some twits rename files and screw up artists and/or song titles. I periodically go through and correct all the ones I notice but when you have over 3,000 and half of them are from the 70's  and a sketchy memory :)

Some of those songs were done by so many artists it can be a pain!

:worship: thanks Slo Mo

CORRECTION - Apparently Sandra Chapin actually wrote the lyrics? Who'da thunk it.

Does anyone know if she is still married to ole Yusuf :)

Decent list, Eddie. I know most of those, and I bet Jeff does too.
I'll bring my 12 string next year and a couple of 6 stringers.

Whoever made fun of you must have been thinking of every OTHER Bon Jovi song.

That reminds me. . .Poison's Every Rose Has Its Thorn would be very cool if rendered acoustically.

Yeah, I said it. . .POISON. :moon:
