hi i am new to the forum, i am looking into getting my first bike. i have had 2 quads, a modded blaster and now a warrior. i know i want a 2 stroke bike but i dont know which 1. i am 5'11 and 145 pounds i was looking at the kx100 because my dealer has them on sale and i cant spend 2 much because i need a car soon. will this bike handle me? i wont b doing heavy jumping just 5 ft in the air..how fast does this bike go stock i heard it gos 60+ can the motor handle a higher gear ratio because i mostly just do on road driving? the last bike i road was a cr500 and that was a little to big for me but i liked the power!

You are probably too tall for the 100. Weight wise, you are more suited for a 125 or bigger. What is your main type of riding going to be. This is a big determining factor. 60mph is a little high for the 100. Top speed is generally irrelevant, because you can change gearing to suit your riding preferences. I think that the 100 would be a mistake for someone of your size. Your comfort would be comprimised.

Im 6' and weigh 150. I bought my girlfriend whos 5ft 1 a kx 100. The truth of the matter is is that its my 15 minutes of fame bike. its a fun toy for someone my size. but you can only ride it for about 15 minutes before your bodys sore from being cramped up. Id go with a kdx. they are the most taken for granted bike that there is. they are way better than they are ever talked up into being.
the kx 100 would be a fun bike for you if its your second bike that you use as a joke. Dont spend your hard earned money on something that small. It probably is about the same speed as a kx 125!!! If speed is what you want the kdx is a 6 spd. and really does go faster than it looks.

You are too big for the KX 100.

Your going to want a KX 125. I was in your position at one point, and I am only 5'7 115 pounds and I ride my KX 125 fine. I love it, and I am very happy I went with it over the KX 100.

Were you going to buy the KX 100 new? I was going to buy an 04' KX 100 for 3250$, when the dealer showed me some leftover 2003 KX 125s for only 3200$!!! I thought it over and went with the 125 and I don't regret a second of it. Expecially at that height your gonna be cramped on a KX 100. Go with the 125, see if any dealers have any leftover models. I ended up paying only around 3800$ with all the tax + extra fees + shipping. Saved over 2200$ when compared to a new one!

I think a KDX 200 or 220 would be a great bike for you. It's got good power right off the start, is less maintainence than a motocross bike and you can easily put enough mods on it to turn it into a fire breathing monster.

how much is the retail on a new kx125 i havent looked at them at the dealer because my dealer was robbed adn lost over 50000 in dbs, quads and harleys...all they had was the kx100 but now they have a whole selection i just havent had time to go

A new 2004 KX 125 will run you about $6,000 when you are done with the actual price (which is the $5,000 MSRP) + They get you on a bunch of fees that come out of nowhere + shipping + tax etc.. Like I said, I got a brand new, left over 2003 KX 125 for only $3,800 total with all the fees (it was regular $3,200)

And thats really unfortuanate about the dealer :whiner:

You never really stated what kind of riding you're doing. Also are you wanting a street legal bike? If not you won't need to worry about getting 60+mph out of a KX100. A KDX(it is a 2 stroke) tops out at 70. Both the KDX and KX125 are versitile bikes but if your racing MX a 125 would do better.

not street legal but i will mostly be doing street/dirt road running, and tiylu 5000 for the bike wow i saw that on the website but at my dealer the kx100 and rm125 were 1000 dollars less than that...idk

So your going to be on dirt roads and paved roads but not legally, right?:joke: If your going long distances or high speeds for long periods a 4 stroke might be better. OTOH I think a KDX made street legal is a awesome choice as long as you aren't on the highway a lot. If your looking for some road speed you need more cc's than 125. Are you doing any other trail or MX riding too?
