how long do crf's last

hey guys
My friend bought a 03crf450 i'd say about 5 months ago and rode it alot like 5 times a week and he did not put anything on the engin except he changed the oil every ride and cleaned the air filter every ride and last week his big end rod bering jamed up on him causing his engin to jam. He rebuilt the engin at cost cause it was part of his sponsership but i'm wondering if this happened to anyone else? any info would be apreceated

I cant think of any engine that would last as long as 5 months with that useage.

Depends on how it's being ridden.
Raced? yea thats a long time.
Playriding or playracing?
Just a dribble in the bucket for most XR's. :)
My '82 XL500R is on it's first overbore, and has never had the cases split.
Runs like a top........with almost 25,000 miles on the clock.
(75% offroad - 25% hiway) :cool:
