Since this is the member "support" forum I am asking for you members to help me through this.

I am desperately close to putting a deposit down on a RED bike:silly: The new CRF 450 is just more than I can take. Everytime I read about the bike here, or see it in a national, I get bitten again. What to do??

$200 gets me one guaranteed. Our local dealer is estimating 30 to be delivered to him. I would be #10 on the list. He is selling them at straight retail $6299.00, and the deposit is even fully refundable.

HELP!

Well Strick, I'll do my best here to help:

1. I saw this bike at glen helen and it is awesome,as nimble as a 125
2. $200.00 is not that much money
3. Very cool red color
4. #10 is better than #31
5. your KTM is 3 yrs. old
6. I'm sure your wife will understand
7. You can be the first kid on the block
8. Stress is not good for the heart

I hope that I was able to help and good luck:D

Strick buy it man! Why not? I mean getting it at MSRP and all. It's going to be a high demand bike so even if you take it out for a spin and hate it you'll be able to sell it and MAKE money on the deal. (The only down side will be I'll have to lock you out of the pumpkin patch ;) )

Patman, you just want me to stop cluttering up your forum, Huh?

Why isn't anyone (almost-Jaybird) trying to talk me out of this? I really may have to go do this today:scream:

Big Lou - ask away, if you didn't live so far away I would even dial 'er for you!

Re: Talk you out of it?

Your talking to a guy that rode a 250MXC on a friday evening and was at the dealer the next day working the trade! I say go for it. Every now and then you just have to say "What the heck", right?

As for dialing in, I'll meet you in Western Kansas!;)

Yeah that's it Strick, your just a trouble maker I'm tryin' to sweep into the thumper forum ;)

Really I'd consider doing a deal like that myself except I've been on a spending spree the past week and figure the wife might snap over another new bike in addition to the trailer, tractor, loader.....

Ok try this:

1. You would be better off with a 125
2. $200.00 is a heck of alot of money
3. Red!...give me a break
4. At # 31 you could consider yourself lucky
5. Your KTM is only 3yrs. old
6. Your wife would kill ya.
7.What... you trying to be the first kid on the block.....grow up
8. Stress... yeah what ever

How's that ;)

I am too old for open class 2-stroke power every ride. If I really have the urge I'll ride John Blaze's (if he will let me). Nice try though Okie!;)

Maybe you should stop thinking so much about yourself and consider the rest of the world.

The economy is slowing and the only way it will recover is if we spend money. Show your support and confidence in the economy and BUY THE BIKE!

Your $ will help support the kids of the folks that work at the dealership.
The taxes the dealer pays will improve schools roads and public services in your area.
The moeny you will spend on nice trinkets for your bike or yourself will help support other bike addicts across the country.
By showing up and riding that thing at your local areas, you will encourage others to buy new red bikes, and they in turn will encourage even more.

So, if you stop thinking just about yourself, but instead consider the big picture, you'll realize you MUST BUY THE BIKE. The economy (and indirectly world peace) depend on it.

O.K., O.K.

Magellan your socialist views have swayed me to go put my money down. It was very funny by the way. I, sir, am a capitalist pig. I am going to buy it just for the attention - NOT! Goodbye Ben Franklin times two.

Funny, I've never been called nor ever considered myself to be a socialist in any way. I just need the economy to turn around so the big boys will start spending on IT projects and I can get back to work.

See, really I'm greedy and thinking about myself:p .

I'm sure you'll love the bike:)

Magellan: You live in Portland (or a small commune nearby). I know all you Orgeonians are borderline communists. Come on Fess up!!

Just kidding of course. I am leaving my office right now - on the way to the Honda shop. The big boss (my wife) just gave me her blessing.

JPivey, she said I 've had my 300 long enough:)

Woohooooo welcome to the RED side Strick!!!!

Now you can look even cooler than Karl and I!!! (Just don't do the Flying W like Karl did!):scream: I have some great nail polish that will match that new RED bike too.

Actually, we are waiting for the shop Karl's at to get some in too. Shhhh don't tell anyone about our sick 4 stroke thoughts - especially our bikes. I know how they can be when they think you may betray them!

Way to go Strick
I have the same delemma in a slightly different form. They're not due in Australian till Dec / Jan 02 :( And I simply cannot live a week from when I hit the ground back home on Aug 22 till then without a bike.
What to do ? ? Aug to Jan is a little short to buy a "bridging bike" then sell before the CRF arrives. But it's too long to wait and not ride.
Maybe......I can just keep the "bridging bike" when the CRF arrives hidden under the cover of my Superbike and the wife wouldn't notice the multiplying effect again!
