I was just checking my California campground map (it's an old map) and it says that Fish creek only accomidates RVs up to 22ft. My motorhome is 30ft + trailer for bikes. Do any of you know if I'll have room to park the beast or if there's an alternant area.

Kiwi---from what I remember of Jawbone from years ago, that hill is way steeper than it looks in the picture. The memory alone scares me!

Although 30'+trailer is quite long, there is a spot in the back of the Troy Mdws. Camp between stall #28-32. This one is unusual in that it parallels the farthest-from-the-road asphalt loop, & is close to the creek, near outhouses & tap water. Great spot, & large enough for 2 cars (40'?) lengthwise, so it should be fine for your giddiup. It is just before the last drop by the aforementioned landmarks on your left-hand side, before the road goes by the creek & heads back up toward the entrance. If you are not comfortable with it, then there's the Troy overflow area across the street.

We plan on camping near this site, & will arrive mid-day on Saturday the 25th (of May), & do a warm up loop Sat. afternoon up Jackass Trail & back, then Mohogany Trail & back, & call it a day. Early Sunday we will load up, drive to Beach Meadow; 1) do Monache Mdw in the morning, return to the staging area for lunch, then 2) ride to Bonita Mdw for a loop there, & perhaps include Sherman Peak; return to Camp for the night. Monday morning will be an early wakeup & departure to get home by noon.

Greg (friend), Jr & I. Perhaps thumbs, 2strok4fun, tree, scar? I'll bring plenty of firewood.

I called the Channel Meadow Ranger District, and they said the trails are planned for a Memeorial Day weekend opening, as is the Blackrock Information center.

well I spoke to the wife today, not looking good for me on memorial day :whiner: there is still a chance, I am first on a waiting list for a spot for the trailer for memorial day at the river. So if anyone knows anybody that has reservations at Wheeler inn on the river be sure noone cancels :D

Hmm... Quite possible that I might bring the wife and kid along. Have to see if she can get time off from work.
Sounds like dry camping unless we can get the fancy spots?
Better bring extra plugs!

You could always do the evion bottle in the backpack full of premix ala Thumbs on our last trip. Even then he ran out because he gave to much to Kip. :p

Only Thumbs could make that and the Helmet Condom look good :moon:

Eel, the 100 mile loop goes down to Kernville where we get gas.

Only problem is the 2 miles of road to Kernville, for lunch and gas, and then 8 miles back to the trailhead. We usually talk someone in to taking a truck (and trailer) down to transport the non-streetable bikes.

So who is bringing the family or a significan other? I just might bring a friend but would not want her to be bored when I'm out riding.

When does everyone plan on arriving?

Looks like I'll have Estela and 2 kids (14M and 11F) who are itching to learn how to ride after watching the Glen Helen MX.

That's the one. But it's Tucson not Phoenix. I'm trying to break her in properly. I told her that if we were going to have any kind of lasting relationship that she needs to have a passion for the dirt and everything that goes with it. She said she is up for the adventure. :)

Scar...

We will be bringing a 21' toy hauler with us. We are going to head up on Wednesday in hopes of getting some good spots. How early can you go up? I've never been up there so I'm not sure where everything is. We should talk before then to arrange a meeting area.

If you go up the 395, Fish Creek is the first place you come to and is right at the beginning of the popular Jackass trail. Its where we camped last year and we'd easlily fit into the overflow and could make a big circle camp. In the actual sites there are a few that will accomadate that size of rig. And theres a great meeting area in the open range to accomadate plenty.

Troy Meadows is bigger and just 2 miles further up the road. We rode through there on another trail. Other than those two I haven't been to any other. I'd like to be as close to alarge creek or Kern river as possible for swiming for the boys. At fish creek he creek is like a rain gutter to small. Maybe Kiwi knows a better palce.

As far as leaving I'm going up on Wed. most likely.

Question is that your toy hauler or are you renting/ borrowing it?
