Forget the rain Im thinking Phelans going to get snow. That should make it one muddy but fun ride. Man Ill never forget freezing my gonads off riding above Phelan right after a snow storm about a year ago. Was great riding until I hit the water puddles along the trails.
MX do you ride the trails along the mountains their or what?
The best ride I had was in the snow at Phelan last Feb. I can't remember when the last time I had that much fun. Hitting the puddles were fine as long as you were ahead! My poor buddy got the blast of cold ice water though.
Yeah, we ride all those trails plus a lot down in the valleys. Plus where we stage there is a couple of cool MX tracks, all natural terrain but brutal.
Come on guys, what about Tumbs and ktmboy. Eel, get your bike fixed? Just go get a KTM 200. Malcolm Smith has one on the floor.
Hey Eric, I got to ride a 400sx and I think that might be the bike for you. Its mellow and has a 6 speed gear box. It felt as light as my 250f and it started buy HAND!!!!!
later mxbundy:p
ps. Boodac are you one of them 2 stroke friends of Elk`s ?
Sorry guys, I've been absent from the board a few weeks.
Sadly if it's not pouring rain I can't make sat. but Thumbs and I we're talking about a Sun. trip somewhere, Corona, Phelan. open. I was about to put another post up.
Sunday would work for me.
Ok Scar has checked in, wheres everyone else?
Ol89r?
Longtime?
Jpivey?
None of you guys have made it up for a Phelan ride yet, you wouldnt be disapointed.
Elk, what about sunday?
MX I was talking to KTMboy a few weeks ago when you guys went ridng there in Phelan. I live real close by and head over that way from the house once in a while. I do have a 2 stroker tho, but havent seen the tracks you spoke about. Of course if my memory serves me right you guys ride west of town which may explain it.
Oh, I`m sorry I thought you where a member of Elks 2 stroke army.
But I think we ride on the East side of town. I can never remember the name of the steet, buts its the one with the Bus garage. All the way to the end.
Is there any riding West of town?
ok then i was wrong. I thought KTMboy told me you guys rode over the east side of town. The tracks I saw when I was last over their didnt seem like much but then again I didnt check them out that well. When ever Im over that way I end up cutting it close on gas thus making it hard to make it back to the home pad. Of course if I took the flat land route instead of the trails in the mountains I probably wouldnt burn near as much petro.
I have to finish decorating the house with lights and stuff this weekend, so I can race that UEA scramble on 12/9....... you know that give alittle, take alittle senario.
This is one ride I want to do this winter, playing in the snow, it's gotta be fun
I'd love to ride but my bike is but a frame with a pile of parts next to it right now. I broke it ALL down and pulled the engine (which surprised the heck outta me !) - and the engine is at the Husky dealer right now. I think I dropped a gear or two. If I get lucky and they can fix it without ordering any parts I might be able to put Humpty back together in time for Saturday - but I doubt it.
So - KTM 400 SX huh ? And a KTM 200 what ? Sound great - wish I had 6 or 7 grand under my mattress. I bet they both rock but I'm gonna learn how to properly ride this 125 if it's the last thing I do (hopefully it won't be). Just gotta remember to keep my elbows up and a finger or two on that clutch lever at all times ... right Bundy ?
Malcolm who ? :) The Husky dealer in Pasadena has a bunch of KTM's at all times. Right now they've got two 2001 250's, a 300, a 380, a 2002 M/XC 200, and I think a 400. They also have a 2001 Husqvarna WR 250 and a 360. Plus three EXTREMELY LARGE DISPLACEMENT Husaberg 4-strokes. They almost had to kick me out of there for drooling so much ...
I should be able to go for a ride this weekend. My leg is a lot better now. The weather man is forcasting rain for Sunday. I`ve been in Ca. to long, I`m not to excited about riding in the rain.
Just posted a reply to your post in the Reno thread, asking you to check out this thread, oh well thats what I get for not reading this one first.
Phelan is at the top of the Cajun pass off the 15 frwy. Although it is not a really large area, it has a lot of varied terrain. Everything from monster hill climbs, to singletrack , to sandy ridge trails. Its the best place I have found that is reasonably close to me.
I see that you live down Murrieta/Temecula way, will be there this morning for work. How far is it to ocotillo, have never been there. Do you think they got rain there?
Ocotilla is about 1.5 hours from my house. It is off of the 78 where San Diego and Imperial county meet. It is desert type riding.. Woops, some medium size hills, there is some cool stuff out there to see.
If you are interested you could come down to the house and we could ride out together. Let me know as I am leaving at around 7:30 am.
Sounds good , But I need to run it by my buds.
I have to go to work now, so i wont be on line today. If you got my pm just call me around 6 or 7 tonight . Or you can pm me with your # and i`ll call you as soon as I know something.
Just one more thought here before I sign off, if everyone wants to go out Sunday, im in.:p
I need all the riding I can stand, went to the track last sat. and felt slooooowwww, so i need to blow the cob webs out
later mxbundy
ps. Eric, I thought you good looking single banker types where made of money.:p Just sell the Porsche and buy a new bike. Or maybe a certain waiter will by it for you?:p :p :p
