I'm stickin with the 2 stroke as long as I can. I don't race so I really don't have a need for the competitve edge of a four stroke. Or the added cost for that matter. :silly:
Easier to put the power on the ground is what I keep hearing, but I/ve never even had a chance to ride a modern thumper so I'm sure that could be disputed. :thumb:
I can't see dirtbikes being that much fun without that hard powerband hit anyway :aj:
I wouldnt say a 4 stroke bike has an edge over 2 stroke, cause I cant help but think a 2 stroke bike is always going to be lighter and have better weight distribution than 4 stroke no matter how good the thumpers get.
I guess you could say 4-strokes give some riders an edge if it makes it easier for them to get the power 2 tha ground.
i really want a CRF450, but the resale value on 2 strokes has fallen through the floor and i never even got 1 call when my bikes were for sale. I am now thinking about a 05 CRF, but the wife needs a new car before that happens, so its more likely gonna be 06...........
I have both, a cr125 and a crf 450. I really couldn't say which one I like better though... the 125 turns like nothing, while the 450 kills the straits. I'd say 2 strokes are better at tight supercross type tracks, while 4 strokes are better at long fast tracks.
I have both, and they both have their advantages. I ride the 4 stroke (Cannondale 440E) most, but the 2 stroke (KTM 200EXC) is easier to handle and more fun in the tight woods.
Ive owned both , but my thumper to oil burner ratio is about 5 to 1.
Gotta love open class 4 strokes, puttin around like a trials rider one minite hittin triple digit speeds the next....... :)
Four strokes are best for the Falklands. They can go longer and as parts are rare for bikes here, they are more advantageous as they are lower maintenance. Four strokes are better for the roads as well with light e.t.c.
