Vuillemin fined $2000 by the AMA

EA Sports Supercross points leader David Vuillemin, who hails from Corona, California, was fined $2000 this morning by AMA Pro Motocross Manager Duke Finch. The Cobra lost his temper with Stephane Roncada when the Kawasaki rider ran into Vuillemin's back wheel, after Vuillemin took Roncada out in their heat race duel. In front of 69,000 people, Vuillemin dropped the #12 Yamaha to the concrete and slapped Roncada three times in the helmet. Roncada kept his cool and did not respond, and thus was not fined.

Finch stressed that the fine on Vuillemin was not for rough riding. "That was just racing, plain and simple," said Finch. "It was what he did after the race that got him in trouble."

Vuillemin was able to compete in the main event and finish second to Ricky Carmichael to retain a 20-point lead in the series.

I don't get it Roncada ran into his back tire but was not fined? It doesn't sound like he kept his cool to me.

Sorry if someone else already posted this I did not see it

A bit different circumstances. LaRocco's season is OVER. Technically I suppose they should be dealt with the same way.

It's good to know that Vuillemin got fined for being a pr!ck. Serves him right for taking shots a somebody. As for as LaRocco is concerned, I watched it unfold on ESPN2. I can't believe that none of the officials did anything about LaRocco gettin' in T.P.'s face. I wish T.P. would have knocked LaRocco on his a$$ and Roc's mechanic. I lost all respect for LaRocco after seeing what happened and hearing that he shoved T.P. down after he had already remounted. Anyone ever consider that since Honda sits on the racing Board of Directors was the reason for Larocco not getting fined? I can understand LaRocco being pissed, but keep it professional. I'm sure that the crash wasn't intentional and it looked like T.P. was pretty upsaet about the whole thing. Maybe Honda needs to send LaRocco to A.A. (a$$hole's anonymous) where he could learn respect.

Hopefully Vuillemin has learned his lesson, and maybe we can look forward to some more great racing between RonRon and the Cobra. I also hope that all the other pro riders have learned from this incident and the one with Larocco and T.P. Keep your chin up Travis! Congrats to RonRon for not whippin' the Cobra's a$$ and keepin' his cool.

David's actions are uncalled for. Okie, I don't want to tell you your business, but I think that DV should be booted from DRN!

Sounds like the AMA is going the way of the NBA!!!
It's never the guy who starts the trouble that gets fined, it's always the guy that retaliates. I find it interesting that the ESPN2 coverage of the previous round mentioned that Roncada had been "overlly aggressive" and realized he was trying to be a contender, but did not condone the way he had been going out of his way to interfere with other riders lines.

But they did not show any of the TP/Rock incident except both Rock, and rock's mechanic getting in to TP's face after he crashed a lap later.

Using that logic, I guess Honda still has a soft spot for Lusk then after he pushed Fonseca to the ground after getting together with him (this from reports, I personally didn't see it).

I agree fully with riders being fined. These guys have to realize that they are role models, and actions like that are just plain uncalled for (this applies to DV, ML and EL). Real pros take it back to the trailer, out of public view. Emotion is a powerful force but needs to be kept in check.

HiG4s, I also agree that the "starter" also needs to be addressed, although this is often more difficult, as the initial incident is often unseen (but for the wonders of instant replay ;) )

RacerX has posted two "Atlanta Race Report"'s--1 from DV, one from SR. Both sides of the story. Interesting.

On Lusk in Atlanta, there was absolutely no issue with the Fonseca mix up. It happened right in front of where my family and I were sitting. Lusk was frustrated (deservedly so, it cost him ~20-25 seconds, which he never came close to making up), but it was still very professional. The overly technical tracks are causing way too many crahses that shouldn't happen.

chump change. if they're going to impose fines, make it hurt.

Exactly, race suspensions, I was watching AX tuesday night and a rider was DQ'ed after a heat race because he counld not control his temper after a collision with another ride, missed the main event after working so hard to get there. That would hurt.

Points are worth more than money
