Sarge, the motels listed in my original post are about 5-10 minutes from Turkey Bay. They're nothing special, but they're not terrible either.

Just wondering if the trails are marked or if you just ride any where. Never been to TB but would like to go. Sounds like a killer time. And also if there is a campground you can ride from with water and ele. Let me know thanks

Mike, the trails are "marked" sort of, but there are plenty that arn't. As for electricity, there arn't any hook ups in the OHV park that I know of. There is one water point located on the main road about an 1/8th of a mile from the check in station.

For more info check here, there is a trail map(just the main ones). http://www.lbl.org/

Sarge, We should have room enough for you and the wife in the DRN party house. I will bring a blow up type bed and yall can have my bed but if you come by yourself you can sleep on blow up bed on the floor :p . There is no need for yall to have to stay 10 miles from all the fun. Just come on down we'll figure it out when you get there. Heck Aimee hasnt even decided who she is sleeping with.

I wonder if "Growlers Pub" would kick us out if we got me, sarge and Eddie in there at the same time. "And what would you like on your sandwich, sir?" "Why, double pickles, of course..."

"OK, you three (not counting Aimee. Not sure if she'd be seen in public with all of us!), outta here! The other customers have complained that your nostril-launched beer is offending them..."

Not a peep CAL.

I just want to say THANKS to Lou for the loaner and to Gomer for the offer.
You folks have no idea how much I am looking forward to this ride! CAL and I have been trying to put this thing togeather seince before DW02 and finally becoming a reality!

Well I am out the door to go play in the woods at "Band Camp". The weather looks good with sun and temp.'s in the 50's, but anyone whose spent time in any service that goes right in the hopper the moment you step into the feild. The 12 mile tacticle road march ought to be fun, I get to play OPFOR and boy o boy, have I got a few suprises for them :p

Have a safe week end to all riding or taking trips somewhere. :aj:

For those of you that have never riden TB before...

1. Watch out for dune buggies and jeeps on the trails. They move slower and are often stopped right in the middle of the trail.

2. Be cautious of the blind corners on the main trail. Usually someone will be haulin' in the oposite direction. Several people have been hurt this way.

3. Be cautious of the hill climbs at the top. Some "peak" and drop off the other side. I heard of several "launch" stories.

4. When crossing trails (especially the main trails) look both ways first. Again, several people have been hurt this way.

5. Don't hit the mudholes. Most are DEEP...especially down by the lake.

6. Expect to lose some knobs off the rear tire...lots of rocks. Also for those on 2 strokes, expect the possibility of dents in the expansion chamber from the rocks.

7. If you get lost, just keep riding you'll eventually make it to the main trail and it will take you back to the parking area.

I don't mean to scare anyone, I just want you to know what to expect. I'm sure there's more, but this is all I can think of right now.

WaltCMoto .. Good to hear it bud. PM is on the way. It looks like all the beds are spoken for but we could always fit you in on the floor somewhere.

Yamahauler is right buggies and Jeeps are a definite threat around every corner at LBL. SO BE CAREFUL.

CAL you got a game plan yet? Places to meet etc? We will probably need to split off in a least 3 or 4 groups to be able to stay together.

DRN Party house guests how do yall want to do food. Individual? as a group? Buy it when we get there? CAL...Any local stores close? Everybody bring stuff?

And Sarge I am now an Orange Dude SIR. :thumb:

Sarge - :) Woohoo!

MikeB - I don't really want to bring a bunch of stuff (FOOD) unless there isn't a decent grocery store nearby. I'd like to have a decent (STEAK & POTATO DINNER) either friday or Sat, any idea if there is a grill at this place? If not maybe someone has room to haul one??

Cal, his father, David, Tim, Mike and I did St. Joe today - in the low 40's with rain in the afternoon  Check the ride report forum tomorrow, my shoulder is a little too sore for more typing tonight :o

Eddie there is a restaurant right next door to the cabin .. not real sure if it is gonna be open or not. I will call them and find out. I will also see about a grill. Benton Ky is only about a 10 minute drive. I am pretty sure there will be a store there somewhere.

Lou you guys are starting to scare me. Sarge is coming stag and all yall keep talking about is leaving smoking holes everywhere you stay. :scream: I am definitely sleeping on my back holding a tire iron .. "What the hell were you thinking?"

I've been having computer problems. Sorry for not getting back sooner.

Jaybird, start sweet talkin' that woman!!

Thanks for posting the tips Yamahauler. :thumb:

There is an IGA grocery store and a King Brothers grocery store in Draffenville. It is about 10 minutes from Moors. There used to be a grocery right down the road from Moors, but I don't think it is still open. No need for anyone to bring grills (except Jaybird, his is awesome!). We have enough locals that can donate grills for the weekend.

Here is where we need to congregate at Turkey Bay. After you leave the guard shack, get back on the road, and drive about 1/4 mile and go to the first parking lot on the right. Eddie knows which one. I will be getting off work at Noon Friday and plan on heading the Moors and waiting for you guys to get here (if you don't beat me). We can go for an afternoon ride Friday as a warmup for Saturday. ;)

My cell # is 270-559-0698. Call me when you guys get close to being here.
