Unfortunately this is seriously hurting our sport. Motorcycle riders hate quad riders, quad riders hate motorcycle riders, jeepers hate motorcycles and quads. Even horses get involved in this to a certain extent. There is one common enemy to all of us. The environmentalists! While we fight and bicker among ourselves about who has the right to be on the trails they are busy trying to close them down. I am a motorcycle rider and have come across quad riders screwin up everything they touch and jeepers that would rather run me off the trail then let me pass. By far my most intense passion is for people on horses. In my opinion thy are big walking bags of dog food with hypocritical a**holes on top of them. But if anyone tried to take away their right to ride somewhere I would be first inline to defend them. So now I will get off my little soap box but, lets all remember we need to stick together to keep the trails open and a spotted owl burger in the hands of every environmentalist.

ok after reading all of your responses there are some pretty good ones and i enjoyed your honest opinion i gotta say i enjoyed SR71's statement the best we do have to all stick together even though we may not all like each other all the time. up here where i am at i live about 15 miles from the polaris factory and about 40 miles from the ARCTIC CAT factory and i know alot of people who's liveliehood depend on atv's and snowmobiles. dirtbikes are starting to get very popular up here now and atv's have always been extremely popular and alot of the stuff you guys bring up is stereotypical stuff. this is exactly what the environmentalists want is everyone hating each other to divide and conquer and have everything closed down to everyone. heck up here in northern mn the dnr has tried to close down many many miles of trails in beltrami state forrest when they had a meeting last winter about 1500 people showed up in this little community to oppose the shutdowns. now this is what all of us need to do and we do need to make sure that if we see someone being irresponsible to try to set them on the right path and try to correct their idiocy. and some of you guys said you don't like atv's cause it doesn't take as much talent to ride them isn't an excuse to dislike them and i will agree it takes 100 times more talent to ride a dirtbike. and as far as being dangerous the chances of me crashing my dirtbike is pretty good the chances of me crashing my atv is well pretty low but if i do crash my atv and i did it once then a person will more then likely get hurt having a 700 pound machine fall on you compared to a 200 pound machine.

I have no problem with ATV's, just the irresponsible fools that rides them.

When it comes to our land access problems, ATV's are at the heart of it, rather it's illegal trail proliferating, trespass issues, dust, excessive trail system damage and even vehicle assult, the ignorant ATV rider is at the core of the problem.

I am not trying to stereotype the ATV rider, I know a lot of quad racers that I have the highest respect for, to do what they do, through the terrain and at the speeds they do it is amazing but, I would have no problem playing Doc Jim and cutting a certain sector of the cancer out for the good of the body.

Outside of that I think quads themselves are pretty cool.

I never used to even notice the quad guys........back when my race started at around noon and the ATV guys raced early. Since I've quit racing, I do more riding, and working the trails than ever. All the guys I ride and work with HATE ATV's. I've always tried to keep an open mind. However, I couldn't be in more agreement with many of the posts in here. The ATV guys just don't seem to show up for the "work days", they blast the pits all through the night, and insist on doing all their riding IN the pits (donuts and no-helmet, beer drinking that makes them "brave") I've seen them kicked out of MANY riding areas. It's really a shame.........After many discussions around the campfire, us 2-wheel guys have come to a conclusion.......the quad croud is one we need to have sympathy for, they can't help it. You see, it's an epedemic, like AIDS or Mad Cow........and here's how it all started........... When they go to the dealer, make the choice that they need a quad, the VERY MOMENT they sign on the dotted line........their brains get sucked right out!

I like term "quadbillys", it pretty much sums it up for the people I see on atv's around here on the trails. I actually very rarely ride on the trails anymore because of the them. They have rutted all the trails up entirely to bad, not to mention make the massive mud holes they made. They also, think its cool to make there atv's loud, I have seen some even riding around with open pipes. With all the new houses being build in my area it won't be long before the trails are shut down.

at TNT, atvs totally trash the trails with mud and waist- high ruts. thats the reason i never go on their trails. atvs also cause huge ruts in berms and jumps. tracks are a place for dirtbikes, atvs belong on trails.

the atv's should stay on the tracks with the other weenies who can't handle the single-track out in the woods.

Damn, now I almost have to take back any nice thing I've ever said about quad riders.

I was just out shoveling snow at the end of the drive, and some loser on a quad comes blasting down the street, slides it sideways and roosts me with slush.

I am sure that everyone who has spent time in the woods has stories about quad riders risking injury to themselves, or others, by riding over their heads with little or no safety gear.

I don't like them for two other reasons. They have destroyed most of our state's bike-only trail. Also, there are now truck loads of litter on the trails............I believe that has bounced out of the coolers they carry. Absolutely ruins our image IMHO.
