I have a 96 KDX with the original chain and sprockets still on it. The chain is almost out of adjustment room so I figured with all the OT I have been working its time for a new setup. I see there are a lot of options out there, O-Ring vs. X-Ring DID vs. RK Renthal vs. etc., and I was wondering what others experiences are and whether to switch gearing as well.

Thanks!

I have been happy with my D.I.D. X-ring. Swapped out the stocker when the bike was new, it now has 65ish hours on it and the stock sprockets still look new.

You can get a White Brothers rear sprocket off of Ebay for a good price. That's what I did. They are much lighter than the stock sprocket. If you go with an O-ring chain then you'll have to get a wider chain guide.

Replace the chain and sprockets at the same time. Use O ring or X ring chain. The new chain will wear its own width in the chain guide. The KDX 200s come with 13 x 47 sprokets and non O ring chains. change them now and enjoy for a long time. Cheers John
