Ricky's bike set up looks all wrong! Bars waaaay back and the rear suspension low and deflecting. Not a balanced machine like the Fonz or Larocco or Villumen for that matter;)

I just have a thing about Gossealer. I know I'm a little biased probably, but I was glad he didn't win it. I just wish they hadn't tangled. It cost me in the fantasy SX.

Did you replace the KDX with another woods bike? If not don't worry, you can always rider the GG.

The kid who was leading and then crashed... I think he ran into the Yamaha rider on purpose. He went straight for him.

He would'nt throw his race away like that on purpose. One turn from the finish in 2nd place, I think I'll crash now.

I agree with Derekb_55, I don't think it was on purpose. He's just not a real smart rider.

Where did Goss come from?? I heard almost nothing about him last year, what team is he on? Any report on RC? His ankles looked like they got killed by the guy behind him. What happened in the 125 final?? They didn't show that one.

Didn't you hear what Bailey said? It ain't pink. It's fuchsia . Whatever it is, it looked awful. :uh:

J-man, I haven't replaced the KDX yet. I am trying to buy a CR450F roller so I can make a woods/play bike out of it. I'd be afraid to ride your GG. I'd prolly endo it like KC Big Dog did on my YZF. :D

The 125 final was before the 250 main. Preston won it, it was funny he didn't know he'd won it. He ws pointing at himself, holding up one finger, and shrugging. Bubba Stewart was way fast though. If he hadn't of crashed, oh boy.

But isn't it kinda like skiing, The slower rider has the right away??
Sure the slower guy has the right-away to a point. Goss had a different line then Thain going into the whoops. Thain bobbled and accidently switched lines. And I don't care how good they are I don't know of anybody who can at speed purposely change their lines in the whoops. It's the same as jumping right behind someone on a MX track. You have to count on them to hold their line and if they don't it is up to you to pray. I don't think Carmicheals crash was due to his bike. Usually when he crashes or almost crashes it is due to him being too aggressive. This time he came up short. The way he caught his front wheel I think he would have went down on any bike. Maybe his set-up is what caused his front wheel to be low but even if he had gotten the front end up it would have been a pretty nasty case. I don't think he came up short because the new bike was slower then his KX. I think he just made a mistake.

Well said, but I would add; Have any of you guys tried to slow down in whoops? First thing you gotta do is shut off the power. Then guess what happens?

Bubba

Bubba was defintely on the gas. If he can keep it on two wheels this year, he'll be smoking everone.

IMO Bubba is still inexperienced. It showed last night when he was following the leader. If he had chose not to follow and took a different line through the whoops, the first place finisher would probably have a different name.

LaRocco had the same deal with Ricky. He was following, but I'm sure he wasn't expecting Ricky to make any mistakes.

I also agree Bubba has to get rid of the purple mid 90's. It does stick out though.;)

I guess McGrath is mortal, arm pump has probably hit all of us atleast once so we know how much it can affect your ability to hang on. He ain't done yet..

Those of folks doggin' on Travis, he had half of his spokes ripped out of his front wheel at the start. Amazed he rode 12 laps with that. He rode well in the qualifiers.

I think Villumein may be a front runner all year long. He has been in the States long enough to be comfortable here and get his routine down. His fiancee is American, and we all know nothin' like USA tail.

I thought Larocco was going fast enough to pass both Villumein and Carmichael if Carmichael hadn't taken his inopportune lip slide right in front of him. Glad Carmichael is OK, no stitches for his lip and an overnight stay in the hospital for a major league head ache, wouldn't be the same without him. I don't think any brand of bike would have reacted much differently than Carmichael's Honda did. They may be a little more rigid, but damn, his front wheel was about a foot short of clearing the step up.

I loved Preston's interview. "Dude, this always happens to me. People crash and I pass them. I don't know what position I'm in, I just ride". Classic. If he ever crosses the finish line knowing he won, maybe he can finally do a whip or something instead of his "What place did I get?" plain jane.

Stewart was the great in his first main event. He wasn't great in his first pro race. He ate it a few times and had to go to the LCQ. Maybe it was what he needed to settle down a bit. The kid is fast and smooth.

Thain and Gosselar may be the next Matasivech(SP?)/Bradshaw rivalry. I thought Gosselar had it in the bag, I didn't think he deserved the French ramming he got after the race. The Frenchy needs a lesson in sportsmanship. Sure Gosselar could have given him a little more room, but racing is sometimes a game of inches when a rider just squeaks by. I think the only squeaking was Thain. :(

Overall I loved the whole thing...

Overall RC is still the fastest guy out there. He is still the man everyone wants to beat. He took the inside line over the step-up to keep LaRacco from passing and crashed. He did the exact same thing in practice and was talking about it with Stanton in the pits. I know that LaRacco was the fastest guy out there last night and if he would not have crashed into RC he would have been the winner.
I talked with LaRacco before the race and he told me this "new" Honda was the best 250 he has ever ridden, especially in the whoops!
MC looked bad at the start and it just got worse as the night went on. Bubba was pulling off some moves in practice over the finishline jump that were awesome. I think he was almost upside down.
RC has the plate by Dallas and Bubba will be West Coast Champion.

Thain definitely had no reason to ram Gossler after the race, If he would have held his line he would have been on the podium.

Bubba was hauling ass - next race I bet he will get 1st place now that he has had the butterflies knocked out of his system.

Well at least in the 250 class no one will be saying well it's only going to be RC & MC with a chance. It looks pretty wide open & that's the way it should be.:)

"Strange days indeed", someone once said!

I don't beleive what I saw in that race. All the top guys going down, or their bikes breaking, or just plain being whipped like they had a hangover. Least surprising was RC's faceplant. He seems to have a few every season. Most surprising was MC's lack of fitness and total loss of aggression. He was supposed to have hired a Pro. Trainer. Either this did not happen, or it was useless. I think MC needs to go back to the Nationals, or maybe Budweiser is not his ideal sponsor. It was good to see Vuillimen pull through though and Lorocco was on fire. Should be an intersting season. I just hope Lusk can pull it together.

Bubba looked really good, a lot like Ricky did his first year with all the dirt samples but still fast, actually faster than RC's debut. Speaking of RC I took a heck of a lot of flack last year when I predicted he was going to eat it in a big way for riding too far over the edge, so I was a few races off :silly: . The Rock looked REALLY good, better than Ricky and Jeremy (what the heck happened there?!) and am sure he would have past Ricky and given Cobra a real challenge. Coming out this fast this early is a real bonus for Mike's possible plate contention. Jeremy? Man who knows, arm pump or bike problems maybe he just lost his drive since Ricky went down and out? Saying McGrath is done for the year though is waaay to much speculation for me. When was the last time he looked like that :think Oh, yeah riding the yellow bike.

The Thor commercial was AWESOME! Makes me want to go buy more of their stuff so that can make more commercials like that!
