Hey guys, go easy on Bubba's fuscia getup. I thought it was great, in the sense that this kid has so much nuts, he comes straight into the pros in that uni just to confirm his confidence. Think of the uniform you'd want to wear to absolutely psych-out your foes in that situation--it'd be fuscia.

Yeah Pred, Concussion is defined as an immediate & transient loss of consciousness & failure to lay down new memories (anterograde amnesia) for some period of time--occasionally with some degree of retrograde memory loss of events just prior to the trauma. Think of it exactly as brain "RAM" that holds info whilst performing the "duties", awaiting the ol' harddrive to turn that info into permanent information. If your computer crashes, you've lost everything in RAM--which means everything just prior to the event. Now imagine the RAM's got problems, but the computer's functioning. The events of the day have no access to the harddrive, & permanent memory cannot be formed until the RAM's "all better".

Last year I had a major ass concussion, & upon awakening had no idea who the president was, what year it was (sometimes temporarily lose access to permanent memory), but knew my wife (prob. because her features are stored in my lizard-like limbic system;) ). For a week afterward, particularly the first 3 days, I had no idea what I was doing. My wife would see me 4-5 times per day, yet each time I thought it was the first time I'd seen her in days. Could not perform complex mental tasks for 1 month, & wasn't back in full shape for 3-4 months.

Yeah, I guarantee RC had a concussion. A true one. & I also would be willing to bet he ain't gonna be the same rider for a while, particularly if he goes down again soon (which I also predict).:(

Just like Lusk and Pastrana. Neither was on their game after the first soil sample and kept going down. Got to give it time to reboot.:)

Thank goodness, someone else actually was watching the race. Groselaar picked the inside line, tight but it was there, and Thain shifted to the left. It looked like Goss, tried to stop but it was too late. To Thain's credit though, It looked to me as if the move to the left may have been unintentional, just the way one of the whoops kicked him.

David Cooms mentioned RC looked very good until halfway through his qualifer when arm pump set in. Then was not the same the rest of the night.

Bubba is young and inexperienced. He looked nervous to me. I think it will take him a couple more pro races to settle in.

My biggest disapointment on the night was when Thain and Goss when down and I realized the winner was on a Honda.Argh. Last year he rode Husky. I like Honda bikes, but I'm sick and tired of then always buying away the best riders from the companies that don't have the money to throw around HRC has. I think there should be some sort regulation on how the money is thrown. I don't want to stop the riders from getting a good paycheck, they deserve it, but there should be a way for Husky, and the non-factory teams to keep a good rider, at least a few years, once they start being a threat.

Hold on a minute there, pardner! I predicted RC would auger it! :p Oh well, I'll share credit with ya! ;)
The Rock looked REALLY good . . .
Man, I am so jacked for LaRocco! Winning a heat race and second step on the podium! Not to mention actually pressuring the Leprechaun into a mistake! Could be the year . . . :)
The Thor commercial was AWESOME!
I loved it! Revvin' up the ol' diesel, droppin' the clutch, and killin' it! Classic! (been there, done that  )

ITS NOT PURPLE!!!!!

Well I am new to all this so if you guys say he did not look like he did it on purpose then I will agree with you. Hell I am still learning what lines are.
You guys are probably right though. This is a series and the 2nd place would have been a good start.

OK you color blind people Stewart was wearing FUSIA not PURPLE!!

Stewart is cool. The fusia was ok , but Its time this sport got some real flash!

How bout rhinestone studded boots. Like the cool Gucci loafers! And a lid with the Versace medusa head on it!

And Gaultierr or Moschino could design the riding clothes!

Oh yeah i can see it now high flying, high fashion.

You guys laugh as I am sure you will. Unless there a couple with some fashion sense and know who these people are.

Think about this. If all the pros switched. YOU WOULD TOO!!

I say stewart should be his own man and wear what he likes!

Sincerely,

Remember the '80s gear? I'm trying to forget it!

I thought we were finally getting into some pretty tasteful stuff and away from that funky-colored stuff. Fuschia don't work, 'cept for maybe the new Fox Ladies' gear ;) .

Now Dave V's new Oxbow gear goes a little too far. Way too plain. Looked like he was wearing a tux!

The inside line into the whoops where RC crashed was giving many people fits during practice. Pastrana went down in the exact same place and RC went down in practice on the way up the stepup (about 20 ft from where he bailed in the main).

It's been said already but... LaRocco was easily the fastest out there in the main, he would have won if it had not been tangled up with RC.

I know Tim Ferry is out.... but did anyone see any 426's in the main? I saw at least 3 450's.... Maybe the 426 lost some of its thunder?

RC

Some of you guys come down too hard on RC.....how would you act if you were in a situation to equal or surpass one of your favorite sports heros. RC has said time and time again that hes a fan of MC. I doubt some of you guys are as humble when you win a race organized or not. RC is an incredible rider. as for MC...wow I was looking forward to seeing him do well...we didnt get to see the rider we saw at the U.S. Open. Looked like there was no fire...or desire. mabey im wrong. Come on Jeremy we are pulling for you!

That race just left me with a bad taste in my mouth....the images of RC hitting the dirt and having blood all over his face and MC getting lapped....there is a disturbance in the force...

It was definitely a crazy race. Lil' Goose has really stepped it up since he got back on a Honda. He was really fast in Paris this fall until he wrecked and I believe busted his collarbone. He was kind of a surprise, but he has been improving each year. If he can avoid injuries he could win the west. Bubba is amazing, he's fast, he's smooth, but alas he is also inexperienced and I think that may bite him a few more times. Pingree looked pretty good, he kind of surprised me. Looks like he is on his A game this year.

In the 250 class, its all up in the air I'd say. Of the podium guys, I'd say that Larocco has the best shot. I just don't see DV or Fonseca having the consistency to win the title. Larocco has proved he can ride consistently and that is how you win a championship. MC looked off, way off. He was fast at the US Open, but he just didn't have it at all. Arm pump seems like a crazy excuse to me, he's never had arm pump problems throughout his career and now bam he does? RC will be back, he was fast until the wreck. He just messed up one jump that was it. He looked more control on the Honda than he did last year on the Kawi. Remember he made some HUGE saves last year that would have been way worse than his wreck saturday. For him I'm sure its just more motivation. How about Michael Byrne and Chad Reed? The two aussies rode great. Reed has been way hyped, but still surprised me. As for Byrne I think alot of people forgot about him, but remeber he finished top 10 last year for Emig's team. They are both 125 East guys, the east should be good, those two plus Langston and the others, has the makings for a great series.

Nothing like Bench racing.:)

Stewart did look really good... first race jitters maybe? All I know is it's going to be a great year in both classes.

I'm willing to bet either MC was hurt or something wrong with his bike after tangling with Brown. No way did he just give it up. Let's face it, no matter his attitude, he could take it easy and end-up in the top 5. Looking forward to next week BIG TIME :)

You know - MC said he chaged everything on the bike - new suspension set up, new motor set up. Maybe it was too much change.... He looked good in practice though.

The other thing that maybe is a factor.... With everybody stepping it up and being ultra competitive, maybe taking the Nationals off is not such a good idea. Might take MC longer to get back in the swing of things.

Purely just my speculation.

The whoops were monsters though. You didn't appreciate it until you saw the amateurs going through after practice. Those guys would get stuck in the valleys and peaks, come to a stop, and just tip over. Kinda funny - especailly since there weren't injuries.

I have to share a story. Been savin' it cause I didn't know when to post.

Little more thn a year ago I went on a fireroad ride thru Cleavland Ntnl Forest (Orange County, CA). I was on the Thunder Pig DRZ at the time and backing it into the turns was one of its better abilities. Anyway, when we met up with the 3rd guy in Corona, he's telling us that LaRocco lives 4 houses down. I think yeah, whatever. But after a couple post-ride beverages, we started to head home. As we passed the specified dwelling, I look over and sure enough, there's LaRocco. He looked up for a second from what he was doing - planting a flat of flowers in his front yard. Heh. I thought, man, he is just a regular Joe.

I hope he does well. I could go knock on his front door and congradulate him. But I woudn't want to be a pest. :)

And Stewart's run up to first was impressive, it was a bummer to see him auger it like that. Aw, well...

Those of folks doggin' on Travis, he had half of his spokes ripped out of his front wheel at the start. Amazed he rode 12 laps with that. He rode well in the qualifiers.

I think Villumein may be a front runner all year long. He has been in the States long enough to be comfortable here and get his routine down. His fiancee is American, and we all know nothin' like USA tail.

I thought Larocco was going fast enough to pass both Villumein and Carmichael if Carmichael hadn't taken his inopportune lip slide right in front of him. Glad Carmichael is OK, no stitches for his lip and an overnight stay in the hospital for a major league head ache, wouldn't be the same without him. I don't think any brand of bike would have reacted much differently than Carmichael's Honda did. They may be a little more rigid, but damn, his front wheel was about a foot short of clearing the step up.

I loved Preston's interview. "Dude, this always happens to me. People crash and I pass them. I don't know what position I'm in, I just ride". Classic. If he ever crosses the finish line knowing he won, maybe he can finally do a whip or something instead of his "What place did I get?" plain jane.

Stewart was the great in his first main event. He wasn't great in his first pro race. He ate it a few times and had to go to the LCQ. Maybe it was what he needed to settle down a bit. The kid is fast and smooth.

Thain and Gosselar may be the next Matasivech(SP?)/Bradshaw rivalry. I thought Gosselar had it in the bag, I didn't think he deserved the French ramming he got after the race. The Frenchy needs a lesson in sportsmanship. Sure Gosselar could have given him a little more room, but racing is sometimes a game of inches when a rider just squeaks by. I think the only squeaking was Thain. :(

Overall I loved the whole thing...

Ditto on that, well put and spot on IMO.

This could be the year

that Larocco wins without winning a race, you never know. He is Mr. consistent. No one else shows the consistency of Larocco, not even David Vull. If Rc gets on a streak, its all over tho, IMO. This should be a GOOD season!

James Stewart will win the 125's barring injury. I will bet money on that tho. Thain needs some lessons in sportsmanship - if you look at the tape he moved over into Goss's line and Goss. actually tried to veer to right to avoid him ( not enough room because of the tuff blocks). If you look at in in regular time ( not slow ) it is decieving, but thain indeed lost his line. That is racing. They always seem to create superhuman whoop sections in the first couple SX races?:silly:

Most of ur guys are sad u werent even there and just believe what u read. First of all McGrath and Carmichael were anounced so much throughtout the hole night I bet both of them had arm pump before the race even started. Dumb ass anouncers dont know **** about the sport except for Baily and Eckmen but the rest are nobodies. Carmichael's bike was perfectly fine! Don't try to make excuses just cuz he ate it. He just made a bad decision. They bot will be the contenders for this year. HAHA David a front runner? hahahahah u guys remember all his other seasons?? When he wins 2 races then gets dead last the next week? he wont be here for long this season!

Seems that you came off a little agressive honda8. I beleive it is quite alright to disagree however I beleive that there are better ways to disagree then to proclaim everyone else idiots. In a forum such as this were all anyone can offer is speculation it is hard to pretend to be smarter or less intelligent then anyone else. As for the idiot comment I notice someone double posted.:uh:

The oxbow gear kind of reminds me of MSR gear of the late 80's. Plain Jane for sure, like totally! :scream:

Larocco is definitely Mr. Consistency, but let's not forget that David V. had a great year in 00. If he can be more consistant, he will be hard to catch. Wouldn't it be a wild turn of events if we start talking about DV and ML as the main title contenders, rather than MC and RC!!

I'm pulling for Mike Larroco, I believe that he deserves to win a few. He definitely has the speed, training, and consistency. He's the man!!:p
