Bottom left corner of the map. Unfortunately, you can only see the eastern half of the trail. The start is 3 or 4 miles north of downtown Baldwin on 32nd street just west of M37.
She got mad at me for a while and I had to really suck up from Mid August until the end of September....the weekend trips were "growing" on her. The 17 counts for 2 rides on a Sat/Sunday outing. So 4-5 weekends can rack up 10-12 rides. But, hey a ride is a ride! :)
I have to apologize for the blurry pictures. I was packing only 100 speed film that day and as you all remember, there was not alot of light available due to the weather. It's easy to tell who the fast guys are, they're the most blurry!
I have more pics to post but it is really slow uploading at 50K.
Yeah thanks for the pics! Turned out great!! I wish I could have taken some helmet cam footage and posted it. Working as a computer geek for a living I am frustrated I have no footage or pics to post - LOL!!!
Rick - we are talking about heading south around Feb and possibly sometime sooner. I have family in Kentucky and I usually head down to Daniel Boone to kill the Jonesin' during the winter months. I'll keep ya' informed!!
Mike, I did the same thing with the group photo. I get to look at that every day at work!
Thanks for the pictures, Tim! Also for the cabin/tree and bird shots!
By the way, the November 3rd Little "O" ride is getting moved to November 4th. Actually, it may be both days. There's some guys at work that can't make the 3rd, and I may not be able to make the 4th. Either day, it's at 11am in the 32nd Avenue parking lot. If interested and need directions, let me know via e-mail.
I had a great time and I just thawed out from that rainstorm on the return trip to the campgrounds. An enduro jacket is first on my Xmas list! Tim, what's frostbite look like? ;) (and the photos look great too!)
Thanks for the chow Fred, you can cook for me anytime!!!
I'm 90% sure I am going to ride Saturday. I may be bringing 2 guys, and may be bringing my wife to ride. It all depends on the weather for me. I'm not a real cold weather kind of guy for dirt biking. I'll post later in the week when I know for sure.
Glad to hear it guys! 70marlin, we've got room for EVERYBODY! Bring the wife, Hiller! We've got 13-plus so far - including the groups above it should be right around 20.
We'll be taking off around 11am from the Little "O" parking lot on 32nd Avenue. From US 10 going into Baldwin, go north on M-37 to 32nd Avenue. There's one of those signs on the side of the road just before you get there. Turn left on 32nd. Go to the DNR parking lot, which also has a sign, on the right hand side.
I'm going to have one of us spot some gas for the small-tank crowd (including your's truly) about half-way out.
I'll have a small propane grille to put some stuff on afterwards. I can NEVER duplicate Fred's stylin' and don't intend to. I'll bring some burgers and dogs - if anyone wants to bring something else, great!
The weather sounds real good for a late fall ride. Let's hope the recent wind storms didn't litter the trail too bad!
ya I'll need to have a can stashed for the old rm. I sure the kdx's will have no problem. my bike has one of them IMS baja tanks. I should be in earler than 11am. somwhere around 9:00am to 10am.
thanks again
Hey did anybody misplace a windbreaker at our trail ride??
I found in the clubhouse. I know a couple of guys changed out of the wet riding gear in there.
Let me know.
Mike Jr.
P.S. Mark sounds like another big trail ride. Enjoy!!! I can not make it. I luckily came across a couple of ticket to the football game (U of M and MSU) Go GREEN!!!!
Sorry 70! I looked up all the posts and saw maybe it wasn't clear we had changed the ride to Sunday right after my initial post. I'm only going to make it on Sunday. Hope you can change your schedule!
Mark
I'll be there and no disrespect but it will be nice to have a "day off" from the grill. I'l eat anything you cook! If you need some goodies let me know and I'll rustle up something. Need a few more Mutant burgers???? I'll try to get there early. What a busy weekend...Lansing for a Football game on Sat and Riding on Sunday...busy...busy...busy. Look forward to seeing some of the "old" gang and meeting new ones. Will I be the super senior rider on this one??? Gotta be older than 46 & 9 months old to win the trophy!:p
even though we were the only one's on it? really there was a parking lot full of trucks. was a real nice loop, just what spudric # 1 & 2 needed. all though I missed the turn back to the parking area at mile 19 or 20 and ended going in to the trail system on the other side of M37. put anther 30 miles on the old bikes, was a blast though, orv route type trail deep sand and wide open throttle! we really found out how far the RM could go on a tank 59.8 and never ran out! we made it back to the truck after a little road riding right around dusk.
