Hey all,

Indicaz and I are planning on riding at the Glassport/Clairton Dumps. I don't know what you guys are up to next weekend but if its not more than watching the STEELERS then you are in luck they play at 1pm and we are trying to go out and ride in the morning. Plenty of time to start up the engines and hit the dirt. If you live close then get on out and ride. I'll be out on the dump with a white yz250f so I'll be easy to find and it looks like Indicaz has a RM125 on 250 body so we will be hard to miss. And if you see anyone wrecked on the side of the trail its probably me. Anyway quit being lazy and let us ride!!!!!!

My girlfriend lives in Mars and I'll be in town that weekend and the next to spend those two weeks with her. She'll be at the Steelers game on Sunday the 7th and I had plans to just watch the game on TV at her place. (Yeah I know, don't ask, LOL). However, I was thinking of brining my bike out and trying to find someone to ride with. I'm from Harrisburg, PA and don't know the hot spots to ride near Pittsburgh. At some point I'll be moving from Harrisburg to live with her in Mars, and so I've been monitoring the posts about places to ride near Pittsburgh. It would be great if I could tag along with you guys to ride on Sunday if you don't mind. I have no idea where the Glassport/Clarion dumps are located in relation to Mars, so if you could provide me with directions I'd appreciate it. I can be contacted at williards@comast.net.

clairton has enough trail and track activity for a more then days fun.. thats where i will be october 7th with Pele..

I ride there everyday .. hell its in my backyard, tons of wide open trails, hills, track, streams to cross, mud, dirt, rock, technical downhill stuff, technical uphill stuff. Slag piles, too much too do.

Ill be hosting at my house with sandwiches and drinks for those who show..

My girl is super cool and is gonna hook it up for us!

Also anyone who shows can use my house as a base point/ending point to gas up or wash the bike down with the hose when done.

Bring a gas can, and your gear/bike

oh sorry for the double post

heres some sattelite maps overhead view of the general area that the ride will take place in... not in order neccesarily... This is a very large and very rideable area. I have included about 50% of actual riding area.

DOUBLE DIP ( I have yet to conquer this)
<a href=http://www.freeimagehosting.net/><img src=http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/2fd7ab3782.jpg border=0 alt="Free Image Hosting"></a>

KING OF THE HILL (if you conquer double dip you get to attemp at becoming king of the hill)
<a href=http://www.freeimagehosting.net/><img src=http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/cd14020f07.jpg border=0 alt="Free Image Hosting"></a>

Onto the Slag portion of the run i Introduce THE DOPE FIEND SECTION
dont sleep on slag, its like riding on ice.
<a href=http://www.freeimagehosting.net/><img src=http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/d8bd1d37c9.jpg border=0 alt="Free Image Hosting"></a>

ROPE A DOPE Section, lots of rocky, rutty, slag area with doubles tripples and quadruples if your sick enough to even attempt to jump them
<a href=http://www.freeimagehosting.net/><img src=http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/629601c48f.jpg border=0 alt="Free Image Hosting"></a>

This place is huge and could keep ya busy for weeks

come ride !

BREAK A LEG section of the slag mountain this is wear i tore my acl and patellar ligaments.. again slag is slippery, when turning especially in berms.
<a href=http://www.freeimagehosting.net/><img src=http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/b4e9f673c5.jpg border=0 alt="Free Image Hosting"></a>

REST STOP #1 (trust me take a rest a breather perhaps, smoke a cigg or whatever you got) this is on the way down and up the slag mountain. This is a very famous pile of slag... soak in its fame.
<a href=http://www.freeimagehosting.net/><img src=http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/00af6ca011.jpg border=0 alt="Free Image Hosting"></a>

ALL DOWN HILL FROM HERE (seriously use caution here)
this is about a 200 yard section that is downhill, it is rutty, rocky, mud/clay and only about 2 feet - 3 feet wide with about 18 inches of rideable area. It is a downhill section at a very fast descent with turns and some moderate banking.
I usually kill my bike and throw it into neutral for this and ride down. We take this uphill on the way back which is fun and perhaps a bit easier then going down, you really get to open your bike up on the way up. if you fall its a good 100 foot drop down a very steep embankment.
<a href=http://www.freeimagehosting.net/><img src=http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/3f829d34dc.jpg border=0 alt="Free Image Hosting"></a>

BAPTISM :)
my favorite part, after that knarly downhioll porion we make a right onto some rocks and then another right down a embankment that leads straight into the water!!!!!!!!!!!! we cross the stream here... expect 6 - 9 inches of water, hammer down!

<a href=http://www.freeimagehosting.net/><img src=http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/aed326a64d.jpg border=0 alt="Free Image Hosting"></a>

next we havE THE ASCENT this is a very steep uphill section that is nearly impossible to avoid. the is the gateway to the second sector of riding
<a href=http://www.freeimagehosting.net/><img src=http://img2.freeimagehosting.net/uploads/4f8e14437e.jpg border=0 alt="Free Image Hosting"></a>

THE RUTS, the first area in the second sector, as you can see the topography and geological makeup changes here :) very much like a track
clay/mud/rocks/dirt

oh man.. looking at them pictures and reading what you guys say. i REALLY REALLY want to go!!! But i cant... I lost 1st gear on my bike... so its gonna take a lot of time for me to rebuild (unless somehow its cheap for the shop to do it [i doubt it]) But maby next year we could have another one of these ridin' parties and then i would be able to go..

But have fun.. sounds Exciting...
