A portion of a structural panel above the press box at Wrigley Field broke away due to high winds scattering debris outside the ball park.

I live about 4 miles North of the ballpark in the Rogers park area.

Here are a few of the top wind gusts

58mph Chicago-Rogers Park
56mph Chicago- Bridgeport
54mph Lombard
54mph Chicago- West Loop
53mph Chicago - Midway
52mph Lincolnwood
51mph Naperville

It's pretty nutty here. My truck has been out behind my house for 8 hours and there is no snow on it. The wind is so strong it's blowing the snow right off and building drifts as it goes around the buildings.

They don't call it the Windy City for nothing..

we have had whiteout conditions for about 2 hours now. I only occasionally can see the light by our driveway 50 ft from the house. I just let the dogs outside and they had a 4 foot drift blocking the porch. Luckily the Lab loves snow and just plowed through it after 15 minutes I had to call her back inside. The terrier looked back like I was nuts and squatted on the porch

Boy we got lucky here in the St Louis area, I think the ugliest went just north of us.

Predicted: 1-3 in of ice, 8-12 in of snow on top.

Around our house: 2 in? ice, + 3 in? snow. Not bad at all considering all my prep with generator ready, full gas cans, and a multitude of extention cords and space heaters.

Very little milk and bread yesterday... lots of Pinot Grigio flowing between the wife and I though...

I don't feel so good...

The snow is probably manageable (with a lot of work) at this point in the North East corner of Chicago. But it will take a few days (or more) to get things completely back to normal.

70 mph winds, recorded off the lake. And Wrigley Field is blowing apart, they sold that piece of crap just in time! Oh, and some dipstick got stranded on LSD for 5 hours? Barely made a top 5 storm for Chicago, yet parts are still getting hammered! I live at the bottom of the lake, we are told it is almost illegal to go out and drive, I can not count the pick up trucks out and about! The ice stayed just far enough southeast! I can still see grass, then there is a 5' drift. Let it blow, for now.

From WGN :

Hundreds of motorists and bus riders were stranded Tuesday and early this morning, trapped for hours on Lake Shore Drive at the height of the blizzard.

Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communication officials said at a morning news conference that "all motorists who required transport off the Drive have been moved."

"In total we moved and rescued hundreds of people out of their cars and off the drive," said Ray Orozco at a morning news conference. "And what we can report is all motorists who wanted transport off the drive have been moved."

Tulsa is paralyzed. Interstates are closed. This is all time record snowfall and low temps. I will likely not be able to leave my property for a couple of more days. You folks north of the Mason-Dixon line get much more cold and snow, our snow usually melts the next day but this will stick around for weeks. Forecast for tonight are temps at or below 0 F. What is sad, six months from now it will be over a 100 F.

Went out this morning to head in to work because my wife wanted to go in to her office. Got about 1/2 mile and hit a snowdrift taller then my F250 superduty. Backed out of it and came back home. not leaving anymore today except maybe to take the dogs snowshoeing later

Got up at 5AM, blew snow for 2 hours so wifey could go to her job, she's in health care and in crap like this it matters that she get in. Just as I finished the plows hit our tertiary roads so that was a bonus for her. I'm loafing now.

Nice.

I've got a nice 'Keep Hodaka-in' w/ the struttin' dude sticker, but no bike anymore. Can't bring myself to "stick" it anywhere though.

Swifty, it's pronounced "Manson-Nixon Line" ;)

Two hours of diggin this morning. That was just to clear the snow from around my Truck and the kids cars. Luckily the neighbor came to the rescue. He cleared my 100 foot driveway in two swipes with his snow blower that is mounted to his I.H.

Now I am at work. :( :|

Lost power last night at bout 11, back on at 2:30. Honda to the rescue. 9 degrees outside.
Drive Scooter to Dallas this am, still ice rink.
Jack Knifed 18 wheeler, sat for 50 minutes.
Stopped at McD's , sorry, not enough migrant workers here to make anything.
Stopped at Kroger, sorry, everything is down, no way to buy breakfast there either.

Ice sucks.

It took me 2 hours today to blow out both driveways then just as I finished Trudy came out to tell me her 1pm meeting was just canceled so she was staying home. Oh well the sun is out and the bare spots on the blacktop are already melting
