Oh don't worry, it's too hard to forget that!

Whyzee, if you remember I was inline before you for the motor and I noticed that he sent you and I BOTH an e-mail meaning he was probably going jack both of us and no one would get a motor. I smelt as you did and figured to walk, however I thought that if I posted a warning in for/sale forum mully would have my head.

Instead I did post a warning in here if any of you want to look back for it ;) lol

RM, you're out on your own in this mean world, don't look for help from me pal!!:) I for one will never sell that yellow god of a bike so don't ask.

Sounds like an idea about only being ST members to sell stuff, maybe. I'd be happy to help Mully out in that forum to help with anything he needs. I already extended the idea of making sellers post the Vin and/or engine number of the bike for sell, that way it can be checked out on the spot by myself. If they don't want to post it, heck with them, they ain't selling it here!:thumb: Just a thought

I think just allowing ST to sell is not a great idea, there wouldn't be a lot for sale. I feel there are a lot of great members that are not ST, yet should be able to sell.

I  a better idea is we make it so you have to have a target amount of posts in order to post in the for sale forum, thus earning the right to post in there. I right of passage per say, for example they need to post at least 20-30 times before they can sell, or start a thread in the FS forum.

This would eliminate all the first timers/one timers going straight to the For sale forum and then leaving once it doesn't sell.
Just another Idea to ponder

Here is something else to ponder
Accounting for a total of 48 Posts which is 102 % of dietrich33b's total posts!

He has never posted anywhere but the FS forum, what do you think he is using the board for
Here are the threads he started
Thread: YZ 250f and yz125 parts
Thread: Universal wheels for YZ
Thread: 1998 YZ 400 & 2001 TTR125L for sale
Thread: 2002 Cr250 for sale
Thread: YZ426 parts
Thread: YZ parts
Thread: KX parts
Thread: KX parts (different)
Thread: KX 250 rear wheel
Thread: 2002 yz125, barely ridden
Thread: for sale 2000 yz426
Thread: 1992 RM250 for sale
Thread: Anybody parting out a blown up YZ 426?

Don't want to be accusing people of working the system, yet If the shoe fits, wear it :)

I don't like the STM only idea, there are members here that don't support as we do, but contribute as much if not more, a lot of them we ride with.

I don't think the Idea of this site was to make it a private club................ ya know what I mean.

It appears just by the above post, that you can get enough info on someone to make a determination of the risk involved and go from there.

I think the "For Sale" forum works pretty well as is, although I do think that when dealing with bikes for sale, Elk has a good idea.
It sure couldn't hurt to require VIN numbers be posted.

Mr. Mully isn't always as visible as some of the other Mods. but from what I've seen he keeps a pretty close eye on EVERYTHING that goes on in his forum. ;)

smith you may be on to something there

I think the STM member thing only is a bad idea. Why? Because 95 percent of my dealings are with none STM members. But I usually have faith in who I buy from. One thing I always check for is if they have good posts, if they do im sure they enjoy the board, and if they screw me over I can be assure that my pals at DRN will make sure they have a crappy time at DRN from there on in. And in motofamily's case he got his parts :)

There was one case where I dealt with a guy who just sells parts on here, NO posts. So I was skeered. I ended up calling him after not hearing from him after a week or two and we had a nice chat and he ended up sending me a new sproket in the bag for the wait :thumb:

One thing I always request is a phone number! If they are reluctant DON'T do it!!!

I would also vote against the STM only being able to sell. I think the phone # tip by CR and the data you are able to track on a user shown by bsmith hopefully will be protection enough, for those rare cases where it's not I'm sure for the cost of a box of Krispy Kreme's Elk can track the worm down and help him/her with his/her integrity :)

That's a lot of parts for one person to be selling, especially from all of the different types of bikes "parting out" :| . Any reason to believe that this stuff could have been stolen? Any way to check?

Matt , there are a few that I am tracking right now but detrich33 is a new one, I'll keep an eye on him. I have access to the NCR here at school so I can lighten the load on Elkie.

A couple of people like 96whyzee125, Canadian Toddler and myself have wondered if a few folks are trying to sell "Chopped" parts, now it seems more and more possiable.

They also might just be a dealer, utilizing free ads

My intuition tells me "dmac" might be a KTM dealer
Same story, has never added to the DRN community except newer KTM parts for sale.

This is just a "Heads Up".

I wouldn't even have known if I hadn't checked todays B-Day list on the forums page. YZDeasertGuy is back as YZGUYONE25 . He has only posted 4 times but after the fiasco with Motofamily and trying again posting as a "friend", I alerted Mully via the "Report Post" tag. I just wanted to let everyone else know that this is the same guy posting under his AOL screen name. :| :flame:
