beaumont consists of fire roads, jumps, and a bunch of trails in between. i also heard that if u stay on the right side of the stream (if u go over the railroad tracks) if any of u have ever been there, it is legal to ride. legal or not its a fun place to ride, go during the weekday if ur worried about being caught, i only saw like 5 people all day.

Well, since I have Fridays off, :nener: I think I've got all the gear squared away and my back is about healed from the crash I had on my streetbike, I'm gonna give it a go someplace in the mornin'. Probably Amago or Otay. Should be fun.

Well, I kinda figured something bad might happen this being my first time out and it did. I was intending on riding today, camping near or at the track and riding tomorrow. I packed up ALL my stuff, bike, riding gear, food, drinks, camping gear, etc. I drive out there, pay, put my little riding suit on and then I couldn't get the bike to idle consistantly. It seemed to be idling kinda fast, then i would blip the throttle and it would idle way down and shut off. :( It was definitely warm too. It was pissing a little coolant out the overflow. Anyway I packed my stuff back up and took the bike to Lee's Cycle in San Diego. They are great on sportbikes, so I guess they can handle this. Sounds like something simple to me. Probably just needs to have the carb cleaned or something. Guess I'll try again next weekend.

lee's is where i get my tires for my street bike, cool shop they let you roam around the shop and watch them work on bikes, how many shops will let you do that? they obviously have nothing to hide.
sucks when your rides not working right, should have bought a two stroke  :nener:
what ya think of the track??

dude, there is nothing wrong with the bike, the throttle just needs adjusting.

as for the coolant- 4 stroke MX bikes run hot, if it sits their idling it will over heat- i see it every week before these bikes even get off the stsarting gate. as for taking it into the shop, you better get some manuals and books and try and figure things out yourself, otherwise this hobby will get really expensive- unfortunately, a 250F mx bike needs lots of maintainance- you cant just take them out to the desert and ride them every week- they need a lot of work- as much, if not more than a 2 stroke.

good news is, we are here to help!

the throttle just needs adjusting
I tried adjusting the throttle stop. What else would I adjust to fix an erratic idle problem? In the past I haven't really had a place to work on my bike. I live in a condo. So I don't have a lot of practice. Not to mention, after I leave my regular job in construction, I'm not to excited about doing anything that resembles work in my spare time. I don't mind taking the bike to the shop once in a while if it means I get to just get on it and ride on the weekends. ;)

When I got to Planet X, there were only a handfull of riders there. The vet track looked okay for me to start out on. Nothing too crazy. Although my bike wouldn't cooperate, I'm glad I got to check out the place. The facility is under new family ownership as of about 2 weeks ago. I talked to Wendy and she seemed pretty excited about the whole thing. She was telling me the last owners weren't very good about maintaining the place. She said they are on it. That they were up till 1:30am working on the main track. I talked to a guy riding and he said the big track is pretty good. They are now open 7 days from 8-dusk, allow camping and are gonna have a snackbar, showers, and a place to wash off your gear. They are moving the whole peewee track. The water park is going to be taken over by one of the casinos. She said Carlsbad just closed a week ago and Elsinore is closing in like 2 or 3 months, so they will be one of the only tracks close to San Diego and they aren't going anywhere. They have 40 acres and are planning to utilize all of it. They are also planning to have BMX and paintball.

I should prabably at least ride the bike for a day or 2 before getin' something different.

Oh yeah, I just remembered Wendy said they're supposed to get lights at Planet X also. How is that? Anybody ride on a track under lights before?
