Friday Riding & What you're driving?

Hopefully things will continue to go well and we'll be there in time for a Friday warmup ride. I'd like to be there by 12:00 but 2:00 is more likely. By the way we will be driving a silver Toyota Tundra with the TTR250 and the KTM200, hopefully at the Big Pine campground if there are any spots open. What are you all going to be driving? Look us up Friday for a ride!

TTRGuy;

In the back of my manual, there is one jetting chart for both the 200E/XC and M/XC. The only difference between them is the gearbox and lights. Is there a sidebar or postscript somewhere I'm missing? If I get there early enough Sat, maybe I'll have a chance to tinker, but I'd rather ride...

BTW, red, beat-up, Toy 4x4 with a KTM sticker on the back.

TTRGuy - I'll be there early Friday so I should be able to get you guys a spot.

I drive a sand color F-150 with a CR125 and a mountain bike. Just look for the "tent trash".:)

Scar, no donations, but thanks for the offer. Thank you guys for the gas. Let me know how much I owe.

Looking good for me to scoot out of work and make the Friday ride:)

Backup camp site if Big Pine is full is Serrano on the lake across from the Discovery Center on Northshore Drive. Or, we still have a loft open at the cabin. Thumbs will have our number and directions to cabin on the carry maps.

Thanks socalwr; I believe Rangers staff Big Pine too, during the day, and sell adventure passes.

Gonna be great to see the "cells behind the electrons":think

I know, huh? I'm nervous, like on a first date or job interview. Hopefully my spodely abilities will make the cut and get me in to the clique. Then again, I might end up wearing a dress!

William - Manual

If you have the same manual - page 28 has a column for '125/200 MXC, EXC' carb settings. If I interpret it correctly the #'s in the first part of the column are for the MXC, with the EXC in parenthesis. Of course it also could be the 125 in the first part with the 200 in parenthesis. In either case, your jetting shouldn't be MUCH different than GSR's. Do you have stock pipe & silencer? GSR has the FMF pipe & silencer and they recommend going from 180 main down to 170 just for their pipe and silencer so that accounts for part of the 'leaning out'. Add in the temp and altitude and you get the idea. Find us as soon as you get there and we'll get the jetting close, it really doesn't take much time at all to get in the ballpark.

Sounds good to me. Where and what time do you want to meet.

MtnGoat -- which is tougher -- John Bull or the Malcolm Smith trail -- I mean, you know, just in case a gimp wanted to test hisself out a little bit without for sure biting off more than he could chew.

Scar -- do I read your post right to mean that I just lost my ride up on Sat. am?

Ol89r - Our e-mail server is under-going maintenance, so if you didn't get my latest, please plan to be at the Wedge Ranch. I rigged a little surprise for you. Ron Baird will be riding with us. Also expect to have Jim Bolimo (former vintage MX champ).

Will - I feel the same way. That's the irony of the forum that inspired my latin byline. Translation (rough) "Those that can't be known for themselves can be known by their "moto artem (skills)"

LT - I think Malcolm Smith downhill (from Big Pine) is not as tough as John Bull uphill. They're different though: Smith is long, tight, rocky and follows ridgelines; and Bull is shorter, boulder-ous-obstacle-ridden and follows small canyons.
Bull got a little easier as a result of Jeep travel and after last week's Jeep Jamboree, who knows!
Smith downhill (has lots of uphills too) is very technical with tight switchbacks and has that "gatekeeper" hillclimb one mile in that should be viewed/tried.
We had ridden it right after it re-opened and it seems to get a little better every subsequent ride.
I know you can make em under normal circumstances, but with that ankle, I'd err on the cautious side. But then again, we know you have that un-controllable fighter pilot mentality.

There will be several riders bypassing Bull and Smith out of the Wedge Ranch/Big Pine including David (former ATK), who has a shoulder injury, but will ride lead for the bypass routes. Yvo has also offered to ride sweep on those routes.

Dale (one of the very few riders I know that can ride this stuff well on an XR650) plans to ride lead on the tuff stuff ( I wish I could follow him, Bolimo and Terry on this ride!!) and I plan to ride sweep.

Still looks good for me to leave work today and head up the mountain. I may not see posts past this afternoon. Some of the forum folks have my cabin number if I need to be reached.

LT

What post???

I'd be happy to go up with you. I just hadn't heard from you on what your plans were.

My other buddy Ray is meeting at my place at 630 am sat. He has an xr6 like me and drives an S10. (do you think leaving at 630 leaves enough time to get there and get geared up?)

Do you have your truck back? it'd be more comfortable. we could take my van and put all three bikes on the trailer, or take 2 cars and caravan. Let me know what you want to do. :) If we're going to do your truck or the trailer lets load friday night.

FYI I've got 5 gallons of top off gas going up with thumbs at big pine.

Hello everyone,

For those of you that are not on a confirmed list please let myself or mtngoat know if you will be attending. We don't want to be waiting for someone that is not going to show up. Friday at 7am will be the last time I get online before I head up mountain.

Scar and I will be providing 10 gallons of gas at Big Pine for those that will need to top off.

I'll be there

.
I've just checked and, yep - all my joints are in working order - yeeehaaa! .

I'll be at Big Pine Flats early Sat. morning.

Pinnacles is the only place I've staged on previous trips, because a fire in the Big Pine area had closed down trail 1W17. I hope this trail is open now.

Would like to suggest that everyone make themselves a name tag with your forum name and your first name, if you want. Put it on your jersey or chest protector. We did this at the Gorman ride and it made it easier to put the faces with the screen names.

Plus it makes it easier for us older, mindless types to keep track of everyone. 'Just had to add that before Speedy and placelast did.'

Bundy -- RmJeff -- Scar -- anyone else who wants to caravan up the mountain:

A few of us are meeting at the MacDonalds where the I-15 meets the 91. Exit the I-15 at the first offramp North of the 91 (Hidden Valley Road). Turn left. See MacDonalds. Park and look for really old man with even older bike. :p We plan on getting there a little before seven and departing there at 7:00.

Let us know if you're joining us for that, please.

Aauuuuugh thumbs is already on his way up and I have to work today:think :think

and the worst part is I had to pick up some 2 stroke and drop it off for him late last night.

tick tick tick tick, go faster clock. what if I take lunch at 10.00 am no that'd make the afternoon drag.

LT I haven't heard from you yet are you going with us or seperate?

re: name tags I'll make them at work real quick for everyone. We have a cool printer with sticker paper already. I just don't know all your first names.
I'll have them at wegde ranch.
