ya that e-auction place is kinda crappy...low-ballers up the :moon: If my old bike doesn't sell I'll just have to wait 'till spring when more ppl will bite on a very reasonable price.

what's worse than a low-baller is the guy that wants to trade you for one of those 4 wheeel'd icky things :|

JP,
You say these bikes are "going for" a certain amount....
In you market analysis, how many of these bikes actually "went" for the prices you have been seeing?

Why did you lower your price in the first place? A buyer has to also wonder this same question. It's obvious you wern't at your bottom dollar, since you didlower it, and there must be a bottom to your offering.
How is a man gonna find out where that bottom is without offering?

Should I pay you $200 more than I would with a bit of "haggling" also called "lowballing" by some, just on principle alone....especially since you've already shown a prepensity to go off your original pricing?

It's the way of the free market in all the western world.

I only shook my head becasue this flame is kinda silly. Not really worth a flame.
AND because I have my forks a bit high in the clamps.
:)

Deal! :p

Jaybird, I see Pleaser's point. It is not that he offered $200 less, it is the way he offered it as if Pleaser should be thankful that anyone made an offer at all. Everyone knows if the seller is motivated enough he will go lower but you do not have to insult the seller by saying "call me when you change your mind."

Then again, I know Pleaser and know how laid back he is so I have a picture in my mind how it all played out so I might be just a little biased :)

Thanks, Ivan. Some people just don't get it.

Jay, this has all been happening on a different board. I dropped my price twice. Lowball guy knew that. He also knew that I said I was "firm" at $4100.

There has been no market for the 03 WR250F as yet. I'm trying to set a precedent. I'm sure that if I stick to my price, all the rest of the 2003 WR250F owners will appreciate it.

As far as silliness is concerned. . .well, silliness is my forte'. I like to have fun even when people piss me off. I have zero responibilities in my life, and zero problems, so I rarely feel the need to act like a crusty, pissed off old man who grooves on screwing with people just for the hell of it.

I know this isnt exactly comparing apples to apples but consider the fact that I could buy Destry Abbotts '03 KX500 race bike with a crap load of mods and extra's for a mere $4700. Thats $300 less than a brand new bike for a 10k plus race bike. I guess what Im saying is quite whining about the damn 200 bucks because $3900 for a plain jane wr250 is more than reasonable.

Thanks for that valuable insight, murcada. You obviously have an excellent understanding of MY local market. Nobody in my part of the world would take a second look at Destry's beater race bike.

If you had bothered to read the thread before posting, you'd know that $3900 for my bike is $600 less than my asking price. Get a clue. ;)

nothing has any value until someone wants to give you something for it.

so what we have here is JP holding his bike at a higher value then what one person offerred.

JP I am happy that you are in a position where you don't need to sell your bike and you can command what you want for it but it is apparant that it is not a must have thing in your local economics otherwise it would have been gone already.

food for thought though, when is the phone calls and having to deal with lowballers going to be worth the 200$?Since I don't sell things for money I sell things to get rid of them it wouldnt take me long for the 200$ to be moot point compared to gettin it out of my garage.Freeing up the space I held more dear than the item I wanted to sell. Also if you set on the bike too long waiting for your ideal buyer it is only going to loose value due to age.

I hope you get what you want but I am not interested in the 250 if you have a wr 450 street legaled I will low ball you then.

The flame isn't about the money. It's about the guy's attitude. Jeez, how many times do I have to say that? :silly:

Like I said earlier, I've had 5 offers from people out of state, but they found that shipping is too expensive. Everybody else that has inquired thought it was a great price. Lowball guy is the only one that has given me any crap about my price.

I haven't even tried to sell it locally. It's only been for sale beyond DRN for a week or two.

If you would have offered me $600 less than my asking price...I would have probably let you have it.....but $1200 is just rude

You must be used to buying and selling jeeps or something :thumb:

oops my bad in that case I wouldn't care if the guy walked up on his hands talking out his :moon: if the price was good enough I would still get rid of it for the reason I wanted to get rid of it . I do believe you should have every right not sell to somebody just because you dont like their hairstyle . the guy wanted walk up thinking he was going to play hard ball , well his loss but no gain for you.
