I said $3900 because that was LOWBALL guy's offer to JP. I would gladly take that for it but it is one of those uncool two strokes that nobody wants.

I haven't listed it or anything yet. What stinks is that I have only ridden it a few times and basically put it in storage for the next guy. I should be able to sell it but it will cost me.

Ship your 01 down here and I will get it sold for you :thumb:

:moon: <-For all you lowballers, naysayers, and malcontents. I sold my bike for $4100 to the first guy that looked at it. He knows he got a deal.

I've been hanging out at the beach in Destin for the past few days, and I'll probably be here for the rest of the week. I may not be on for a while (Mom's computer is kinda crappy) so now's your chance to take a cheap shot at me. . .SUCKAZ!

Jaybird, he dropped to $4100 and was at the $4100 price tag when the guy offered him $3900.

Funny thread, congrats on finely sell it, but you know what, that same bike goes fro 4500- 5800 out here, so even with shipping it would have been a good deal.

Destry's bike may have been worth 10g's at one time, but after a season 4500.00 - 5000.00 is about what there worth,( what he's getting for them ) the cool thing is, is that he makes sure that his bikes are tip top shape when he sell them. Alot of guys in the district buy them ( '03 250 & 500's ) and race them for another two seasons.

Rich, I love reading your replies, you rock for a short guy :worship:

Here, I just grabbed this off our district board (example)

JP II:

If you had sold your bike for $4500.00, you would be the subject of hero worship :worship: , but instead you've sold it for $4100.00, making you a relative peon in the used Dirt Bike salesmanship world. :silly:

However, you've managed to advertise your bike in the flame forum, ordered
people to pay attention and, as a result, received 3700+ hits. Very clever. :thumb:

Here are few tips on getting "top dollar" in the future:

1. I prefer the fumbling, bumbling "Lieutenant Columbo" technique (it comes natural to me). Your prospective buyer will be in a hurry to fork over the cash (before you come to your senses) and won't even bother to ask for the extra goodies (in his haste to make a quick get-a-way with your bike). The customer's willingness to take advantage of the mentally infirm is always an advantage to the seller.

2. You could use the excuse, "I jus' cain't ride these dang motorsicles anymo'", as it's a great negotiating point. A strategically placed walker and/or wheelchair (if you have them) is a sure capper to the deal.

3. If you're using the line, "I just took her out for an occasional trail ride in the dez, that's about all. I don't ride these things very hard ya know", make sure your home isn't littered with clusters of trophies when you go in to write up deal. If the trophies say something like "2nd place in the little old men with seeing eye dogs" class, you might be off the hook.

Hopefully, you can use these tips on your inevitable next used dirt bike sale.

Thanks for the tips, Hole. I only paid $4400 for the bike back in April. I bought the bike from Scott Plessinger hissownself. He took the bike as a trade-in from a guy who outgrew it on his first ride. It had 11 miles on it when i picked it up. I bought it sight unseen off the Cycletrader ad after Scott described it as "brand new". He needed to move it, so he let it go cheap, and I hauled ass to Ohio that day and nabbed it. I was a millimeter away from paying $5600 for a local bike when i saw Scott's ad.

I rode it and raced it for 7 months, then sold it for $4100. I DID replace the rear tire ($55) but I kept the handguards ($75). Did I do good?

I keep telling you people - I'm not as dumb as I look.

Nope - I placed an ad in the local paper, and he saw the ad online. I left the link on the inside cover of the owner's manaul, so maybe he'll come hang out with us.

Ok JP I will agree You are not as dumb as you look. But I am courious did the extra money make the vacation to Florida possible? All these peeps bagging on you for the attitude dude gave well I agree with you. (Must be a southern thing and NO Texas is not a southern state!) I had a phone call like that b4 and I told dude to come look at the bike, I told him only a idiot would offer money b4 knowing a single thing about the bike. Sadly he never came and I got the full amount I was asking from another serious buyer, much like you did!

I truely enjoyed reading this entire thread (it only took 40 Mins) and love to see how others react or tell another how to act in a picticular situation. Especially when a opinion was never asked in the first place.

Well it is late and I am sure the grammer speaks for itself I need some sleep.

paddy

P.S. Hey JP did it ever cross your mind maybe dude was just giving you a run for your money? :debil:

1967 chevelle SS 3 year old red paint, 4 month old crate 454 with 5 grand of porting, flowing, stroking done to it. All new electrics all on through. New roll bar, new suspension. 12 bolt with a spool. Asking 13,500
I got it for 4 grand :-D the guy needed the money and let me know how much he needed, i showed him the cash, he took it and gave me the keys. Since then it has new chrome all around, the back brace on the roll bar is out, stereo has been put in, all new interior panels, leather, dash, new brakes, new body mounts, new 12 bolt and the traction bars were taken out. No more spool for me! new tires and some minor electrical work. Now i have been offered 18,000 for the car. By the same guy i bought it from even!

Steal of a lifetime. I know i am low baller by following through but he should have never let us find out the money he actually needed.

I got lowballed on my 2001 CR125, had about 50 hours on the whole bike. 5 hours in a new top end. FMF exhaust, CDR suspension, new tripple tree's, bars, everything regreased, frame polished and swingarm polished. renthal bars, chain and sprockets and other small things. He got it all for 2800, last summer. Not only that but he got a trailer as well! oh well, done deal and i'm well over it....
