My thoughts and prayers are with you, your sister, and your families as you face this troubled future. Take care and give each and every member of your family a special delivery hug from your DRN family.
Blessed are those with the strength to reach out. May the collective strength of our prayers raise you and yours above the troubled waters you face.
Wendy & I will keep Nanette in our prayers & thoughts. Keep up as positive an attitude with your big sis as possible. She'll need you more than ever now.
The DRN community is here to support you. Enough said.
My dad just told me about a treatment that his friend is going through for stomach cancer. Taking a chemo pill instead of the traditional chemotherapy methods. None of the horrible side-affects of regular chemo, and the results so far are very encouraging. I never heard of a chemo pill, so thought I'd mention it.
She's going in for her biopsy tomorrow. She had another lower abdomen ct scan and there wasn't anything else found. The main Doctor told her that the mass in her lung is on the lower tip of the right one and seems to be in the early stages. The limph nodes will be removed and they are concentrated to only those two. The spot on the liver is still under the scope. I was just wondering how they determine what it is? Do they operate or can they test it without doing that? Any insight, please.
Just got back ffrom seeing my sister and she received all the results on the mass in her right lung. It is cancer and is about 2 inches in size. The problem is that where it is locatd in her lung, they cannot just remove the bottom portion. They have to either remove the entire right lung or fight it where it sits. The only way they can remove the lung is to test and see if the left lung can sustain the body and pick up the slack for the lack of a right lung. They will know hopefully soon and then go from there. If they can remove the lung, they'll do so and then treat from there, if not, they will have to do radiation and chemo to battle it.
I told her about this post and she was eager to see all the replies, it lifts her spirits. Thanks again and I'll update as I hear more.

Been gone for the past two weeks so here's the update. Last Monday, my sister went to the doctor and they gave her all the results. The growth in her lung had already grown 2-3 cm and is now in-operative. It has spread to the nodes and liver and is growing rapidly. There is no chance of removing the lung to help, the recovery time would just hinder her quality of life. They told her it is in stage 3-4 and with no medical attention, she would get 7 months max. With chemo, she may get 11 max.
All her plans with her husband to move to South Carolina have been squashed. Her one request was to not die here in CA but it seems that may be the case. They had 40 acres ready for them out there and their home was to be delivered in September. They even have been out there planting trees along their road to the house for the past few years, just to make it their home when they get there. It's all a bunch of crap now, her dream will never come through. She was told her hair will be falling out after today due to the chemo and she will be bald after a few more sessions. We are having a shaving head party for her up in the Bay Area in about a month I guess so I'll be making another trip up for that. I'll keep making the trips up there until the time comes for her to leave us. Keep up the prayers for her to at least have a dignified and graceful departure. Thank you
Carlo
