"they also added a bridge crossing to the single track"

What? Dont they know REAL men go through creeks and not over them! :) . I know DER or what ever was already giving them a hard time about the 2 crossings they have already.

I agree it is fun to watch people fall and drown their bikes in the rivers....I won't mention any names, but his initials are NRB....  Also if thie bridge is in the area I think it is, the only way to get to the water is straight down about 20 feet, and then to get out it is 20 feet straight up again. This also saves me a lot of work, because this is the secion of single track we were going to cut this fall to continue the loop from start to finish, and we were trying to find the best place to cross the water......And you are right about the trouble they went through to get the current water crossings aproved by the greenies, they agreed to making other changes and sacrifices in the park to allow them.

PaThumperGuy, do you have any more info like a web site? I was really thinking of running the race this year, but my van broke down last Sunday at lake Walenpompack and I have to go up and get it yet and my bike is not in it. I am still thinking about trying to pull it off though.

Man I want to run this race :whiner:. I mentioned riding the 14th to my wife, big fight. Apparently two Sundays in a row (the moonshine & scrub pine) is a problem. That and now I don't know if I'm gonna have my bike back from the shop in time. It seems there are some cracked bearings which make a strange sound when turning left. I wonder if there are only right turns in this race.

Are you going to ride it then? Im going to try but I have to go upstate, pick up my Van, bring it back down home, load it up, then go back up to Hazelton in time to test and signe in. Maybe Ill just spectate, or borrow the little ladies Pick up. I really wanted to run this one for my first one. Even if I didnt keep time at all, just to ride it.

Does it have to be a legal license plate? I have a 1953 one you can borrow. The state trooper behind me didnt notice the difference, of course that was before the new colored plates came out. :)

Uh, yeah it kinda dose. I mean my bike is a 4 stroke and has a head light and tail light, but no turn signals. I could slap my Honda 750 plate on there but are they going to check registrations and insurance and junk? My WR 400 wont pass for a VFR 750. What kinda bikes are they going to be riding then? No 2 strokes! XT, XRLS and DRS bikes or anyone luckey enough to get a plate for a Jap 4 stroke? Why do they make you have a plate? is part of it on the road? This sucks!

All the enduro's require a registered bike(not street legal, just registered), and there are lots of 2 strokes at the races.  It is not easy, but it is possible to get the jap bikes registered, which is why I switched from the KDX to the KTM....The European bikes are much easier to register since they come with an actual title, and the Jap bikes come with a certificate of origin which usually states right on it "For Off Road Use Only".

Jason, check your mail.

I don't think it was mentioned here but you also need an AMA card and an ECEA card which you can usualy get on Saturday or Sunday. Preferably Saturday. The AMA card you buy the ECEA card you have to take a test for check out www.ecea.org. I explained some of this in the email.

I wouldn't worry about time keeping just ride, have fun and try to finish. Try to find out if someone on your minute knows what they are doing and ride with them. Maybe you'll end up hooked like I did. In fact I need a fix. :(

Baaaa, Im out for the race! The bill for the Van repair was a bit more than I expected and that with the race fees and extras just leaves me to thin :( . Oh well, Ill be back next year. GX, maybe We can meet and ride the single track at Paragon some time when I get my computer setup and you can show me some Enduro ropes. This bites, DNS is worse than a DNF for my first enduro :( .

There are some ECEA enduros that are run on a closed course and don't require a registered bike and/or lights. Check the ECEA website for more details. They also rate the difficulty of their enduros. I would recommend riding an easier enduro at first.

If you get serious about enduros or want to ride some of the 100+ mile turkey runs/dual-sport rides I'd recommende getting your bike registered. This opens up a ton of great riding opportunities in the Northeast.

Sorry to hear you can't make it Jason but hooking up to ride some single track sounds fun. I'm racing in the scrub pine the 21st maybe some time after that. As... long... as... it's ok, with my wife that is.
