This is not a dual sport. Plates are preferred, but not required. Camping is at the LMC clubgrounds - field camping. In the past we have charged $10 per person or $20 per family to cover the cost of insurance, permits and camping fees. I hope to maintain the same charge, but I am not certain of the cost of the permit this year. Yes, the LMC clubgrounds is "near" Cadillac - closer to Lake City, but 20 miles from any city with a stop light.

I'll be there. May piss off the wife and the Doctor but I'll be there. Going to be riding slow and looking at the ground. That riding fast and looking for arrows (per Mike and Freddy) works good until it doesn't.

The location is the clubgrounds for the Lansing Motorcycle Club in Mooretown, MI (7 miles east of Lake City and 10 miles north of M 55). We have decided on the weekend of October 21-22. The cost in the past has been $10 per person or $20 per family and includes the trail ride, camping, dinner, and maybe some giveaways. This year we are planning a special dinner and we do not know the cost of the permit yet. So the cost may be higher than last year.
The permit application has been sent in. If (when) approved, I will have a better idea of the costs. All are welcome!!

TnT Brooks will try to make it. Had fun on our first trip last year. Great group of people. But the drive is so far away. I think 30 by trail or 35 by road. And we do bring a dish to pass right?

TnT Brooks - hope you guys can make it. If you dual sport it from Grayling, AGAIN, no need to bring a dish to pass.

We did a Trailfest pre-ride this weekend. We may need to add a couple of arrows in Octobet to keep everyone going the right direction, but everyone will have a good time. We had a great ride and then feasted like KINGS...thanks again Freddie.

The permit was sent to the DNR last week. I will follow up to be sure they received and try to get an idea of the cost.

It is time to resurrect this post....I received the bill from the DNR and the cost did go up for the permit. We need to adjust the cost of Trailfest and I hope it does not have an impact on attendance.
$15 per rider or $25 per family (we encourage everyone to bring the family) will cover the cost of permits, food and camping at the LMC grounds.

IF anyone would like to pre-enter Trailfest, please let me know. If necessary, I can borrow the money from LMC as we have done in the past.

Rather than sending multiple checks made out to the State of Michigan, make it out to me and I will send one check to the DNR.

I'm embarrassed to say that I still have a flat tire from Trailfest 2005! It's been a busy summer and I haven't done any riding.
I'll check with the gang and let you know if we'll be able to make it. Mike, Thanks a ton for putting this together each year, they have been some of my best riding experiences. Also, a trip to Cadilac might be in order at some point during the weekend....

For anyone who hasn't been to a Trailfest, you MUST go! There are racers, trailriders and slo-pokes. The racers ride fast, trailriders enjoy the trail and the slo-pokes have fun! Some bring entire families and the kids and wives ride and have a great time. This event is fun for everyone from the enduro racer to a beginner on an XR 100. We all ride at our own pace.

Mike,
Knock off the dust, fix the tire and fill the trailer with the gang. We realize that your group may not be around on Saturday night as you find entertainment (adult version) elsewhere. The trip to Cadillac is not a sponsored event of Trailfest and will not be advertised.
