I'm all for eliminating PMs and keeping the mojo off (even for members/subscribers) if it saves the site some money and keeps Okie in business. My PM box fills up and becomes useless pretty quick anyway and I actually prefer email.

The DRN email is a nice touch and I think the search is a "must have".

I have no objection to "members only" especially now that I am upped for life.

Just another reason to NOT subscribe :p

I say effem. time to get down to the real "who's got my back" as Sarge would say.

BTW - Okie, can we limit DW to STMs?

$12 is chicken feed, finding a stamp to mail it or figuring out paypal is a bigger deal than $12.

motometal contemplates the $109 expenditure with a sagging bank account...

add me to the list of those in favor of a members only forum...I spent more than twice $12 on lawn fertilizer last week!

there could be a trial period for people to check it out, then they gotta pay if they wanna play.

OK, give them a little taste. But don't let them have the good stuff for free, like the Advance forum, Suspension forum, or post things "for sale", in the for sale forum.

I actually like the trial period idea. after about a month they will be hooked. give em it for free until they are hooked and then charge em...Gee I sound like a drug dealer.
guess my 2 year trial period is over! I'm goina sign up now.

Nooooo!!!! Be strong! Don't back down! From my little skewed corner of this site it seemed that cutting off the search capability for non-subscribers got quite a few to take notice. It's something they have been taking for granted for a few years now, without paying anything. It was kind of like an awakening of sorts.

It's blows my mind that people can't cough up $1 per month, but can still justify digital cable for $89 per month. :|

Like in the TV commerical, invite a bunch of your old neighbors/relatives over one night each month, shake 'em up a bit on your couch, and after they leave, collect all the change.... cha-ching - instant subscriber. :yeehaw:

I cough up my 12 bucks so I can use the search function and not an hour later, Okie caves in... ;)

Actually, I think the search function keeps the redundant threads at acceptable levels. Smit-Dog, did you just invest in DRN stock or something? ;)

Then ask for it back and forget the entire procedure. I was a STM and upgraded to LSTM for $109.00 Before I even knew about the little "Add" and move up. Do I biotch about $40.00 bucks? NO , because I am happier knowing that it is improving this site that I enjoy so much. Okie don't you dare send it back to me!! You know how I am, keep it and use it. :thumb:

At a lot of riding events, you have to be a member of the AMA to participate. A lot of people sign up for the AMA right at the event. The promoters make it easy to do it.

I don't know what the percentage was of people at DW that weren't subscribing members, but DRN could have either made it a requirement like the AMA, or tacked it right on to the DW fee.

With people taking time off work, driving halfway across the country, and sleeping in a field for a week, I don't think a small subscriber fee would deter them!

If everyone ponied up to be a Life'r -- in a few years we would be back in the same place.

The best deal for DRN is yearly subscriptions and support team memberships.
