JP, It wouldn't suprise me if the "lowballer dude" shows up and offers your asking price. The fact that he emailed you makes me think there's more of an intrest on his part than he's letting on. Anyone else agree with me?

Well lets see... 5k for a new bike, plus motor mods, wheels, suspension, bars, exhaust, customizing the frame with guards, clutch arm etc, new plastic and graphics, triple clamps, plus all the extra stuff that goes with the bike: I would say to you that if you dont think that total is around 10 grand your the one that needs to put down the crack pipe.

Not only that, use the reverse psyhcology on him.  "Well, this guy just has to get his wife to sign the loan at $4400 on Monday.  $4250 now and I'll tell the guy the bike was stolen, Sunday evening."

Yanno, alot o' folks are forgetting one thing here...if you are selling or buying, the WORSE thing you can do is get emotional. Nixing a deal based on principal over how the offer/counter offer plays out takes money out your hand. JP already said if freeballer had handled it differently, he probably would have taken it. To each their own, but I'd rather have cash in hand if I don't want the bike.

Conversely, if you are buying, emotion will make you do some silly things...like paying way too much for a clapped out sled b/c it had a famous lineage.

Fact is this, keep emotion out of selling. Keeps the hard feelings quelled, flickering flames aren't streched out for umpteen pages and the dirtbike world keeps turning. :thumb:

Wow have I got a deal for you should run you right around 10-11K, plus Watts and Lafferty have personally , um well they have been in spitting distance of the bike anyway.

BTW, if you have ever seen a pro off-roaders bike after they spend any time on it, you would be wise to steer clear of it like a kitty keeping clear of Lou on a lonely night.

Since I appear to lose every argument I present let me just say....LOWBALLERS SUCK A$$!!!!! and be done with it. Also, Rich Rohrich
is a evil little arrogant troll. Too bad I dont have access to those annoying little emoticons everyone loves to plaster their posts with since you wont know whether I'm joking or serious or feel like mooning you.

Ya know, I agree with you about 50%. I've seen pro's "old bikes" that were in the best shape a used bike could ever be in. Better than out of the box condition, with all the extra stuff on it. I have also seen pro's bikes that the chain was all rusted, crap bent and broken and air filters that they were too lazt to clean. I can't imagine how a pro could expect to compete on some of the bikes I've seen, I guess the ones in good condition were the ones where there was a mechanic and some serious support backing them up.

That post reminds me of reading bike for sale ads that say "never raced ". In some cases a bike that's been raced is the kind of used bike to buy, they are usually maintained better because of safety and performance issues over a bike that was "trail ridden' by a 14 year old that doesn't have a clue when it comes to prevenitive maintenance. On the other hand a bike that someone bought and never raced and are selling due to lack of interest or injury can sometimes be a steal. It comes down to using your better judgement when it comes to buying a used bike.

I guess in all honesty when I sell my bike I can say "for sale, only ridden on Sundays by a little old man Kind of like buying a used car from a little old blue haired lady that only drove on Sundays to church ;)

I really hope the guy steps up. If he does, one day he'll look back and know that he almost screwed himself out of a great deal for $200.

Swade, I would have turned down $3900 regardless, but I would have offered to drive halfway to Atlanta for $4100. I might have even thrown in some extras, just cuz I'm such a swell guy. I'm serious about upping my price, too. $4100 seems way too cheap now.

zcookie, I really don't know what I want next. I'm leaning toward a YZ450F, but maybe I'll shop used $10,000 KX500's too. Have you seen any for sale?

As Said By JP
The flame isn't about the money. It's about the guy's attitude. Jeez, how many times do I have to say that?

So, you only care about the money? You're such a donkey, Mr. Pleaser. :|

Whats all this clueless BS? All I said was 3900 for a wr250 was reasonable. Then I told whats his face to stop whining. I think he was whining, thats my opinion. Then the evil troll tells me I do drugs. Calling me clueless is fine by me but suggesting I do drugs is not. Thats slander buddy boy.

By the way, take a look at that picture of Rohrich in Eric Gorrs book. The one where he is standing behind a LOWERED yz426. It only had 8 inches of travel but the seat STILL came up to his man teets. He must be like 3 feet tall. Very troll like, I thought. Then there is his nasty troll demeanor. An awful one or two line response and then he's back to the sock drawer. Thats where the troll lives, you know. He lives In Eric Gorrs sock drawer. Thats where he goes to formulate his next awful one liner, specifically designed to denigrate someone to make himself feel more important. Nasty little troll. Thats a bad troll, bad!

how ironic...i'd be happy just to have THE OPPORTUNITY to turn down an offer on my shiny '01 CR250.  It has been advertised late summer and fall in several places, has sat down at the local riding area with a sign on it, I have lowered the price several times, I forget now what i'm even asking for it...$2700?  Not even one call!  Not even one "that's not what I'm looking for " or "I want it but my dad won't cosign" or "I want a four stroke because everyone says they are cool" call.

Whatever...James, if you get 3900 for your '02 let me know....I need to move to your area to sell mine then.

I once sold a KZ700...this was like an early crotch rocket without all the plastic fairings...very cool bike, and rare because they only made them one year.  Mine was in awesome shape with low miles.  All I could get was this one guy who totally low balled me, wrote $1000 on his bus. card and left it.  A few weeks later, I picked the crumpled up card up off the floor and sold it to him.  I found out that a day later all of the body work was at the shop getting sanded down for a fancy custom paint job.  Anyway, was I happy to have his low ball offer?  I guess, at the time.  Right now i'd rather have that bike in the garage than that measly grand.

I think some of the problem with selling used biles now is a result of all the new bike offers. Most people are near sited to only look at the I can get a new bike and it's only going to cost me $39. per month.

I haven't seen much clueless posting, just two sides to a very human perspective...oh wait a minute except for one chippy little fellows attempt to piss of the site guru/grump. Dude, give it a rest...anybody who knows anything about scoots knows you aren't going to justify 5K in mods on a used dez sled, unless you are a rag editor incognito. For all we know, you WERE posting in a chem induced stupor.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA......Thats was a good one... A shame I cant help you out on the 500, our market up here doesnt see any like that either.
.
You should probably make a strong effort into desert racing. :p
.
actually, all joking aside, $3900 for an 03 wr is pretty low, I could see maybe for an 01 with mods or such. Doesnt that ride roll out the door around $6400 all said and done? Obviously there is depreciation, but its been 1 year.
It does sound like the guy is still interested if he keeps emailing you.
I do know from experience in my market, that the winter season becomes a buyers market up here, especially with sellers that are hurtin'.

Our riding season is just starting for most people. I ride year round, but most of the Southern populace hangs out at the lake in the summer. $3900 would be a decent price or an '02, but the '03 is much improved, and way more expensive. The cheapest quote I ever got on a new one was $5600 OTD. One of the guys I ride with paid $4400 for an '02 last summer. I met another guy who paid $4500 + tax/tag/title/setup/freight for a new '02 last summer.

Murcada, if I wanted to whine, I'd whine about all the little kids who offered me half what I was asking for my XR50.

Jaybird, I never direct anything at anyone.

JP, why don't you approach BSWIFT about a trade? I know he was interested in the WR450 in a trade for his YZ450 when I still owned it
